That's a good price and since you have 4 L lenses I would do it.

What do you hope to gain with the 5D?

If your lenses are designer for the T3 only, they won't work with a full frame camera. If they are Canon lenses they should have EF printed on the lens barrel to use on a full frame Canon 5D. If they have EFS printed, they will only work with crop frame cameras.

That's a ten year old camera, I would get something newer with much better technology.

Adorama has a deal going now where you get a Canon 70D body, a Pixma Pro 100 printer, a 50 sheet box of photo paper, a camera carry bag, and a 32GB SD card for $1,249 with a $350 MIR plus a $100 instant rebate which ends up getting you all that stuff for $799.

The camera body alone is running around $1,100 right now.
You can CL the printer and paper to get your end cost even lower.

I believe that Canon L lenses are all EF lenses, not EF-S, so the OP is well stocked.

You might want to test your favorite lens on the 5D before purchasing, if an option. The 5D sensor is roughly the same size in terms of MP even if full frame. The processor is also an older version by 2 generations as compared to your T3. The price is reasonable but maybe not an upgrade in fact. As suggested by others, something newer relative to the T3 is likely a better choice.

No worries, just wanted to address your point, which is generally valid.

I agree, the 5D is really long in the tooth. There is a lot of thinking to do when buying such an old camera. Personally, I would not do it no matter how good the camera looks. You need to get shutter actuations, repair history, and any documents on this camera. The risk of buying and using such old technology could let your down in just that moment. You may either want to save a bit more, and buy a 6D for your "L" lenses. Look for a Canon factory refurbished, or if used, look at KEH.com, they have a warranty on their used equipment. The 5D is just to old.

 Nice package. He would even be better off getting a 7D.

If you are not going to shoot action, and you don't need the latest focusing such as the 7DII, then the full frame 5D is a good camera and you will get comparable, or better, images than many of the newer cameras. Here are 2 images I took with the 5D which has a lot of detail and dynamic range.

Correction: EF lenses, including L lenses, are made for either full frame or crop-sensor Canon cameras. I use L glass on my 7D.
