Google is a play on the word "googol," a mathematical term for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zerosreflects a seemingly infinite amount of information on the web.
Just because you lot dont know what motivated the name Ugly Hedgehog does not mean that it was a case of any name will do...
I do not believe for an instant that Ugly Hedgehog was just a random choice as you and others have suggested.

I agree, my friend. I never said those were random names, I'm sure there is a reason behind most of them. As for Ugly Hedgehog?....I don't know, maybe the founder was a hedgehog in his former life.
Am I the only one here who knows ther answer?
It's 42.

I speak to friends about Ugly Hedgehog and more than once I've been asked why a photography forum is called UHH... it would be good if I knew the correct answer.
It's because the name DrudgeReport was already taken.
Have you ever looked closely at an ugly hedgehog? Try it.

Have you ever seen a hedgehog that wasn't ugly? Besides, if it was called the "Good looking" hedgehog every Hari Krishna would wan to join. Then we would have to hold the meetings in an airport. So, just lie to people who ask you about us and tell them it is a top-secret society.
Run a magnifying glass over all the male Avatar pics.
Lotsa bristly hair on their backs and UUUUGLY!
Here in the UK it's a euphemism, for unshaven down stairs lady bits. Sorry but you did ask.

Hi Mike Gallagher
I thought 42 was the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything! Does this mean that Hogs as a group, have the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything?
I am, of course, referring to Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Yes but why is a number with 100 zeros called a googol? The story is that it's called that because when a child was asked what a number with 100 zeros is and the young one said "googol" and that stuck All language is merely an agreement regarding meanings andd how to express them.

I've invented a word that I'm using to describe you: Yebralaganou...
and that's a backward Ounagalarbey!
I think its safe to assume that UHH was not created by a 9
year old...
Also the fact remains that a googol represents
a very large number and google was named after it for
a reason... So your post above is pointless Yebralaganou.
