If you are going to be up in Seattle in September the State Fair will be going on down here in Puyallup. Puyallup is about an hr. South of Seattle depending on which way you come down. If you were to come down this way to the fair it would be a lot of fun for you. Even people that live within the state come from hours away to come for it from the other side of the mountains. If you look at
www.thefair.com you can even look at the website for the fair and see if there are going to be any concerts you might want to plan to be at.

You are welcome.
Have a good trip. Another place farther south that you might like id Fort Casey. It is an old costal defense fort. There wree 3 of them Fort Case, Fort Townsend and Fort Flagler.
They installed some of the old guns and such at Fort Casey and you might enjoy walking around through the old bunkers and such. Should also have some good views across the Straights to the Olympic Peninsula
More agenda items...
The better half is a history buff and will enjoy the old forts.
Thanks ;)

Bad time for a working guy, but hopefully will lead to future meetings.
Throw some suggestions out there - if we can get a group together on another day that would be great.
Friday is just a suggestion - not locked into anything - if Sat/Sun works out for more folks that's ok...
We're open to other times/places that will work for all...

Neat - will definitely check this out - many thanks...
Don't know if you've been to Whidbey Island before, but there is much to explore (and photograph). You may never leave the island. This is within a few miles of the NAS. It's called sunset beach and on the north end of West Beach Road.

Beautiful beach, will have to check it out - thanks.
Was there in the 80's for weapons quals - didn't get off the base so I put Whidbey on my list of places to return to...
Also if you're interested in birding further up North there is the Skagit River. Closer to Seattle than from down here in Puyallup. So if you are interested in birdwatching that is an excellent place for birding. Esp. in the winter for Snow Geese but there should still be Bald Eagles up there now and Gr. Blue Herons and many other species. About an hour further down from the fairgrounds down here there is also the Nisqually-Delta Wildlife Refuge area for birdwatching too in the State Capital of Olympia. If you come to the fair we will not be there for the local Audubon. I was not given a reason as to why, so not sure if just short of funds or what, but the National Wildlife Federation should be. Located in the Northwest Outdoors Bldg. They might possibly have a little map or some kind of brochure to show you of the birding spots.
Forget the umbrella unless you want to look like a tourist!

 yep - we'll keep them stealth ;)
If you plan to come to the State Fair the Kiwanis Club usually has a tent set up at the Best Western on the hill near the mall they kindly just ask for donations as they shuttle people down to the fair. This would save you money on parking.

Neat - thanks for the tip -
Should mention this too for when you are possibly down here. Radio station for best local traffic if you do come down South for the fair and hit the Auburn area so are that far south will be to tune in to MIXX96.1 KXXO. Then you will hear better reports for Hywy. 512 that is close to the fairgrounds.
