Will be visiting the city and would like to get together with fellow "hoggers" to chat about a little of this and that...

Will be staying at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island so we are not locked into any meeting place or specific agenda - so if there are other ideas, please suggest...

I have been told by a reliable source (Thanks Ken) that there is a little shack on the west side called "Salty's" that might let me in if I promise to be good, so I propose a meet & greet there on Friday, the 19th for Happy Hour (4~6). I hear it is the best view of the city during the evening/night ;)

I was thinking Saturday could be for local street/park shooting if there is an interest - or any special events that may be a photo op. I would suggest meeting at the Pike Place Market for coffee and go from there...

Looking forward to visiting the city and hope to see you then...

Since you are at NAS Whidbey check out Ala Spit, also known as Ben Ure Spit. It is just around the corner from Deception Pass on the east side of the Island.

Here is a link to a pic I took there a couple of weeks ago.

I grew up on Whidbey and it is a great place to go

I lived in Seattle for many many years until last year. Salty's is a good start as great view of downtown Seattle from there. There are lots of places in and around Seattle for great pics. Pike Place Market, Seattle Center, the University of Washington, Snoqualmie Falls, the ferries, the Arboreteum, etc etc. Have fun. Being at Whidbey you won't be too close to Seattle but doable.

I understand this was in fun but for those that may to know, September in the PNW is probably the nicest time of year you'll see. Could it rain? Yes but not like it does in the later fall and winter.

I'm in the Portland area but will be away on a hunting trip mid September otherwise would love to join in.

Thanks for the tips...

The only base that had open rooms was Whidbey...
I can deal with the drive as we plan on taking different routes (as much as possible) back and forth - more scenery that way ;)

I'm going to be in Vancouver from Sept. 13-23 and was planning a trip down to Whidbey and maybe over to Port Townsend on the ferry. Not sure of the date yet but might be able to meet up at Salty's on the 19th. Will let you know once my dates are confirmed.

You are welcome.

Have a good trip. Another place farther south that you might like id Fort Casey. It is an old costal defense fort. There wree 3 of them Fort Case, Fort Townsend and Fort Flagler.

They installed some of the old guns and such at Fort Casey and you might enjoy walking around through the old bunkers and such. Should also have some good views across the Straights to the Olympic Peninsula

Bad time for a working guy, but hopefully will lead to future meetings.
