i tried to bring up the foreground a bit and reveal some of the barn's red color, while compensating a bit in the most highly exposed areas. There's more available in the foreground and barn color, but I didn't want to get too far from the near-silhouette quality. So, a number of compromises. Quality suffers from using the low-res posted copy instead of the original.

either compose for foreground or background.you can't have both here.

Hope you don't mind but I added a little fill light to bring out the foreground a little better.

Found that raising saturation darkened foreground severely, increasing brightness a little brought it back without killing the sky. Have to learn a technique? Or maybe it's more just "play with it" until you get what you want.

Well, I just played with the exposure a bit. You have plenty of contrast to work with. So I backed it down and lightened the shadow. Left everything else alone.

You guys might already understand this, but a good rule for capturing sunsets is to UNDER-expose by 1 f/stop. I suppose you could also spot meter on the sun. Getting the sun right is as good as it gets.
