Perfect weather for Mountain biking

This morning we beat the heat and rode our mountain bikes before it got hot. Heat is a mountain biker's enemy in my opinion. It was cool and crisp with the fog moving in and out......it also afforded a unique expereience for photo opps.

Doesn't anyone want to comment on the fog in the first photo? I thought it was pretty cool looking! lol

Very cool! The fog does look blown out on my tablet, though. As a cycling junkie I'm really jealous of the ride. It's 108 ° here today, definitely saps the motivation.

Thanks Dave for your comments. I think you can join with me that the heat is an enemy to the mountain biker especially since you live in AZ and it's 108 now.
As far as the first photo goes, you are right, the top right cloud is blown out, and I tried working with it and the rest of the photo to balance it out so I worked with it for a long time to bring out the dark riders and also the light clouds. I suppose I could have painted in some clouds to cover the blown out part. I will say that it looks much better now than before! It's good to know of other mtn bikers here on UHH. I'd love to see your photos of your rides......please post some!

I can appreciate your work on these,Brent. Fog makes any scene better but the lighting this time of day had to be a challenge even though for biking, it was the best choice for a ride.
I love shot #2, tells a good story of the rider, knowing to come down that hill he had to work hard to get up...or maybe going up is ahead of him? A nice fog behind him.

Thank you Carly.......and I agree with you about the challenge of the lighting.....parts of the first photo were blown out and other part were greatly underexposed and I had to work on BOTH of those problems in one photo. As it turned out, I didn't really solve the blown out fog in the upper right.
As far as the rider going back down that trail, that didn't happen because we did I huge loop and never saw that part of the trail again.

Brent, if you ever make it up to NorCal with your bike, I'll take you riding.
Skyline is 15 minutes away. It's where they used to hold the Napa World Cup. ;-)

Don't take my comment as criticism, that lighting is almost impossible to deal with as a grab shot. No need to do lots in post unless you were shooting for a publication and your editor demanded it. I do really like the scene and atmosphere. The terrain looks like a ton of fun. Very different than my home turf- really rocky here. When it's this hot here I just do short rides or occasionally drive north to the mountains. Most of my biking shots are on film, harder to share. I just don't take my camera with me that much on my solo rides. Keep 'em coming!

Don't you just love fog? These are great. The light in that first shot is fantastic, and the shadow patterns create interesting and effective yet subtle leading lines.

Sharpshooter, I may just take you up on the offer! I love Nor Cal. What is the best month to visit, ride and take photos?

The clouds in the first picture are beautiful, but I also like to see the terrain that you are working your way up.
