I have been one of those who balked at the idea of paying for CC. Said pay $10.00 a month by the end of December last year. I still didn't. I honestly don't know what that was all about. I see now that one can subscribe to CS6 for one year at $10.00 a month. I already run CS6 and get the updates for free, although probably not the ones you CC users are getting. I also use LR which upgraded for free. Now I am considering biting the bullet and purchase Creative Cloud or should I wait till CS7 comes out?

The upgrade Lightroom works even better. I mainly use it more than PS.

Photoshop CC is the next version beyond CS6. It has lots of features over and above CS6. It is CS7.

Keep in mind, there will be no CS7. If a person wants/needs Photoshop, the only way to get it is through a subscription to Creative Cloud. I recognize CS6 is supposedly still made available as an independent title, but that will go away eventually.

The updates for CS6 and Lightroom are free just like with CC. Upgrades such as the hopefully upcoming Lightroom 6 I think are free for cc but I would need to buy if mot a member of the cloud.thing that I like is having the hard copy with me and not need to rely on Adobe to not raise the price which if you add it up costs a heck of alot more than using Photosop CS6(which lasts me 4 years at least and if there are changes to Light room that I like every 2 years or more. I got the education edition of Creative Suite CS6 Adobe wants 19.19 for that per month for version CC 2014, in 3 years of paying that I could have bought 2 new versions of the education edition and have a fair amount of change left over. And even Adobe will not qarentee no price increase within that same time period so then I would be left with all my stuff gone to the either(cloud) if I did not want to pay the extra dollars. The CC or cloud edition is a bad idea in my mind, when you pay for something you should have a hard copy of the program and instructions not rely upon the internet. A few years ago everyone said oh no Facebook is great they would never steal my information or photos I trust them, boy was that a wrong statement. No I will not even look at the CC edition if that becomes the way they will do business I will not give them mine.

Sure but if I decide that I no longer want the ransome they charge and can raise anytime( I have no faith that they will keep the rate the same) I would then have no older program the CC I paid for already and my files would be useless.

There is nothing to fear. You only store on the cloud if you want to. The software is on your computer and you store all of your photos on your hard drive just like you always have. Adobe does give you 2gb of storage but if you use it is entirely up to you.

Buy the Canon 6D and get a hard copy before its gone or there are quite a few programs that are fairly close. I actually think On-One Perfect Suite is getting close by adding layers and masking

...you don't have to use the "Cloud" service for backup, yanno. Then the service just becomes *timely*...and low cost...upgrades to software you've downloaded and installed in your 'puter. I'm just in it for the software, even though Cloud backup is no doubt tons more secure than where I store my data now...

But the point is that when I decide not to up pay the service fee it is not cheap it just looks as though it is when you look at the monthly payment, if you use the software for 3-5 years where is the saving, and they will defiantly raise that price at a inopportune time then if you do not pay you have nothing and have to invest in another program, right now they are sucking as many folks as they can in and you bet they have a date set to raise the price with some excuse as to cost efficiency. Nope sorry wont get roped in.

...well, the cost *is* low, to me, anyway...and I bought PS years ago and have been paying for upgrades all the way...LR is cheaper, of course, but ya got to bump the till every year nonetheless...I just discontinued the DVD part of my Netflix bill and that covered it pretty much. But for me, and I'm a heavy user of LR and love the interaction 'tween the two, it was a no brainer...especially after crunching the numbers. Hey...to each...

I hear you and yep to some it is a deal if they upgrade to every version, I use both quite a bit but only upgrade when there is major differences I like the spot tool in Lightroom 5 but am going to wait it out for a version 6, or I am sure some of the other company's will come up with something equal.

Everything about the Photographer's CC is an improvement over the old system it's cheaper and far easier to update. I like it and hey they are making a lot of money with it so it makes sense that they will look after us.

Yesterday, both of CS6 and LR 5 updated and I don't even subscribe to Creative Cloud. I also use OnOne Perfect Suite which is wonderful. So after some thought, I think I will save that money towards getting the 6D. May be a few months down the road but I think money more well spent.

yes, the saved money can go towards good glass, so far as I can see there really is not any great new things on the cc version just bells and whistles, my CS6 updated yesterday also

The new version just came out. LR5 became LR5.5.
