Aha! So you are the guys that look after these guys during our Winter season.
Thanks and we'll reciprocate.

Actually no, Pierre...we get them twice a year for a few days as they travel north to Canada and the northeast USA in the spring and once again as they travel from the north to Central and South America in the fall...I watch carefully in the months of April and October for my few days with this magnificent bird...cheers...Harve

Thank you for the visit and comment Sirius_one.
We've got our fingers crossed. We have not seen a female for a few days and are hoping she's in a nearby nest tending eggs.

Pierre, that's the best male red breasted grosbeak that I've ever seen! Too bad (us) females are so plain compared to our colorful partners! :)

Oh my goodness, Pierre! Talk about up close and personal... These are wonderful shots!

We did not see Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in our yard until about six years ago.
Up to this year they have arrived during migration time, fed and rested for one or two days, and then moved on. This year they came in early May and have remained.

I would have preferred to have got the male in less contrasty light, but we take what we can get. We have not seen females for almost a week and presume they are starting a families in some nearby nests.

Thank you Sue.
The females seem to be very aggressive and don't easily get moved off the feeders by other birds. They're tough!

Thank you Donna.
Part of it is my good luck with the 150-500mm. It s slow (hunts) on dull days but can latch on quickly on bright days. These were sunny, contrasty days.
