AMEN! I keep mine at 20" because that's the way it came and a modification such as cutting the barrel, in California, marks you as a violent-minded person who is just looking for an excuse to kill someone. Such corruption of the intent to defend one's self is a factor in Californication.

Not a problem as I am a gunsmith and can do this as needed drop it of at a gunsmith and it would be ok. But 2" is not a big deal. live it at 20!

Short of having the eyes removed and switched, or having your nose removed, I suggest inverting the camera. The camera is held firm with the right hand and fired with the left thumb. I theorize that this is a more stable position than moving the standard position in which the holding hand (right) is moved when firing with the right index. Check out how much the camera is tilted when using the "normal" hold fire position (right hand).

It looks kinda funny being right handed, but shooting a pistol left eyed, but I make it work pretty good. Never quite got the knack of shooting pistols left handed.

I have a vision problem with my right eye so it's always the left eye for me when shooting photos.

I live near a place called Maraitai {ma rie tie} when people ask where it is I say next to my left eye. Thats the one I use, feel clumsy using the right one

I'm right-eyed, but when using my D600 my nose occasionally hits the menu button. I think I have a fairly normal face/nose. It never happened on my D200. I realize the D600 is a bit smaller than the D200 so it's just something I have to get used to. The protective cover over the ground glass also gets oily, but that is not something new.

It's more important that you're comfortable taking the shot. Left or right is irrelevant. Some cameras have the viewfinder on the left or right side of the camera, so it's really a matter of which eye you'd prefer to use. Just be thankful that your camera has a viewfinder. :D

I must use my left eye, since it's my 'better' one.

Hold an arm out in front of you and point at an object in the distance. Now close one eye at a time and see which one sees your finger as pointing at the object. If you are "left eyed" as I am, your left eye will see your finger pointing at the object and vice versa. I am left eyed and I agree, my greasy nose gets all over the viewing screen! Oh well.

This is amazing! I knew I always used my left eye and now I know why!

The 4 worst words a good guy with a gun can say to a bad guy with a gun. Stop or I'll shoot!

I shoot left eyed and to compound the problem i wear glasses so it is a bit of a pain especially when using back button focusing. I've tried to change to right eyed shooting but i just feel too uncomfortable so i just clean my glasses and camera screen more often. :)

I switch yes to open up a different perspective to myself.Switching eyes also switches which side of the brain you use.Try switching to get a different perspective when framing.Have fun.
