I have had a few problems with Adorama, but decided to order my 1.4X TC from them. They have my address on record and claim they print it from there, so I don't understand why USPS was trying to deliver to a different Zip code today.

When I called today, after being kept on the line for 10 minutes after going through a long auto-menu, they claimed it is a mistake done by USPS. As far as I know, USPS does not change anything on the address, they deliver to where the shipper tells them! So as I track it, it says unable to deliver as addressed. Of course not, my address does not exist on that zip code they used!

Their CS person from Adorama, told me, after clarifying they were not at fault, that the package will be returned to them (it came to my city just around the corner but could not be delivered) and they will re-send, hopefully correctly next time? In the meantime my TC it has gone around on a trip back and force NY and Florida just because they screwed one number of the zip code.

I am just waiting a day to cancel the order, making sure they understand why I cancel.

Amazon has never had a problem with my address. That is refreshing!

Bubu, you are of course free to go with whomever you want, or at least until they screw up one of your orders.
I have used everybody under the sun, and all have had a problem at some point.
That said, I give most of my business to Adorama when I can. Why? Not because they have never screwed up, they have, but I use their AdoramaTV videos a lot. It is a service that I appreciate, and I guarentee you, that Amazon could care less if you are buying a filter for your camera or a pair of shoes for your dog. Adorama is a store for photographers, and provides the type of services that I use and learn from. But that's just me. Good luck with Amazon. ;-)

I agree with SS. Everybody makes mistakes and this is not a major thing that either you got a broken glass or wrong product. For this monor thing, i would not stop doing business with Adorama. IMHO

MS, you can make a correction to a typo in your post by clicking on the "edit". You can do that for about an hour or so after posting it. ;-)

If it came to the right city, just the wrong area you should've called the PO where it went, explained what happened and ask if you could pick it up there. Depending on the Postmaster and who you get on the phone (some believe 'customer service' to be dirty words), they might have held it there for you. We do it all the time at my PO - just be friendly when you call and don't start chewing out the person on other end - that's the quickest way to get it sent back. Remember, the nicer you are, the more helpful they will be. We get people chewing our a**es all day for stuff we have no control over, when someone is nice we go out of our way to help them.

If it came in today, there's a slim possibility it's still there (if their truck left before all the carriers were in), so you might give them a call in the morning. Couldn't hurt...

The USPS sorts according to their own scan of the barcode retrieved from your zip code. If, for any reason, their scanner misses your zip code, it must be re-scanned or entered manually. It has taken the post office two years to get my zip code properly barcoded from a single source. The only reason that happened was because I sent a properly coded sticker to the sender to put on their last mailing to me. This only happens from one post office (one zip code) so it seems like someone at the local sending post office is scanning the mail, not the hub. Inasmuch as about ⅓ the mail from that address (my church) is misdirected, I suspect a faulty scanner (or a need for some Windex) for that post office. Strangely, all the mail directly from the minister's office has no problem; when I questioned this, he told me he takes the letters to the post office near his home to mail them. So yes, the USPS can and does screw up. When you get your latest package, compare the wide bar code to that in another package. I'll bet there's one tiny error!

I know this will not help with your frustration Bubu but every time we order from a new vendor where there is some kind of autocomplete in the checkout process, they try to find my address and tell me that the address that I have lived at for the last 8+ years cannot be found.

While your faith in Adorama may be shaken, don't discount the idea that "technological advances" within the U.S. Postal Service are completely innicent either.

I ordered an HP Officejet from Adorama about 5 months ago and it showed up just fine. No autocomplete involved.

I ran out of steam already. I was really upset after calling the post office which was another hassle. I could never talk to a person. There were two post office stores at the zip where the package was and calling one was enough pain and trouble. But, maybe it is not meant to be. For a photography store, adorama ships some delicate items poorly, in bsgs that are thin and bendable, frail. That t is how much they care in my experience. It is maybe one too much regardless of who is at fault here. Ir could also have been that the print of my zip code from adorama was not at all clear and sharp to be read by the scan. Either way, i think i didn't have to go to the extent to get myself to the post office if i paid for shipping. Both were at fault for not trying because i don't think that there is an address exactly like mine on any other place, with exception of the zip. Problem discussed, problem out of my mind at the time. I think i would have spoken very calmly to a person at USPS if i could get hold of one yesterday, really!

All is passed now,i hope. To cancel the order adorama ays they have to get the package back. What if it doesn't reach them at all? I loose, not USPS or ADORAMA. I think i have reason to be upset when something goes this wrong. Maybe i will buy again from them, maybe it was not their fault completely. First time in my life this happens,

I ordered my D7000 from them. On the scheduled delivery date I watched the UPS truck drive past my house without stopping. Several minutes later, it drove by in the other direction! The ?driver? delivered it to someone else's house even though my house numbers are plainly visible from the street. Luckily, when the resident where ever he delivered it to came home, he brought it to me. My address was plainly and correctly on the package. Adorama  UPS  BTW, not the first time this has happened with UPS

I read an article somewhere that Amazon doesn't treat their employees very well, as a result I try not to buy from them. I do all my shopping for cameras etc at B&H

If it is bigger then an envelope I always specify UPS when I order, primarily from B&H. The big brown truck has never let me down. Plus, if it requires a signature or is something I don't want left sitting on my porch I just call the local terminal and ask them to hold it for me to pick up on my way home from work. All you need is the tracking number and they are happy to comply. Never have had a problem with the 14 orders I have placed in the past 18 months, both large and small.

USPS sucks. All companies screw up from time to time. I disagree with the disparaging remarks about Amazon. In my experience, their customer service is exceptional. They make it easy to return an item and if you email a complaint, they respond within 12 hours. Does Adorama do any better? Most companies do not.
