I am drawn to #3. Very pleasing.
Good luck.

I am going to enter my first local art exhibition. THe theme is Long Island (where I live) and the work should represent the landscape or the location, people, etc of Long Island. I have decided I am going enter a maximum of 6 pieces. I am finding it hard to have perspective on my own work, so could you please tell me which ones you like the most, maybe rank them. I am going to upload about 10 pictures. Thank you all so much for your help!

Again..thank you all so much for all the responses. It is quite helpful and I do appreciate the constructive criticism as well as all of the really nice compliments! I wish I had time today to respond indiviually, but I can't keep up and I am crazy at work! Thank you again!
Yes..I agree! I think the docks pictures are recognizable..hmmm. But the vanderbuilt museum ones both are for sure. Thanks for the great advice!

One (obvious) thought: you'll want to choose photos that best express the topic of the ehxibition. Using recognizable subjects may trump an otherwise well-composed photo.

Congratulations Alissa on your exhibit!
You have presented a very nice series of photographs making it a difficult choice indeed. I have looked over them several times, considered the Long Island theme, and have selected five that I would definitely exhibit. Of course, my tastes are not for everyone and the ultimate decision is yours. Actually, everyone of them would look great in the exhibit.
Anyway, and before I change my mind, here are my top five:
#2 - This photo has a solid composition with nice reflections and exposure and lighting.
#4 - Brilliant color, good leading line and the bicyclist for interest and perspective. This one looks very "Long Island" to me and is a great representative of the fall season here.
#5 - I like the repeating shapes, reflections and all of the compositional lines. With all the water surronding our island what could be more apropos than some docks?
#7 - A great evening image of the island with the boats in the harbor. Perfect exposure and a beautiful "blue hour" sky. The picture screams....Long Island!
#10 - An interesting image with a fine arch and leading line which shows winter on the island and has a holiday feel to it.
There are my five selections.....trying for six would have been too difficult considering all the fine choices. Well done Alissa and have fun at the exhibit!
Thanks! I am so glad that you gave your input as I respect your work and you are a Long Islander so your perspective is very helpful! I am entering these photos in hopes that I get chosen to actually be in the exhibit. Thanks for the kind words and luck! :)
