My first grade was spent in a Catholic school and was taught by a nun who seemed to cry a lot. She had her hands full with us. One day early in the year she announced, "students look here". I think I now know why this time she cried.

My wife, who is right handed, was made to sit on her left hand in school so as to make her use her right hand to write... Can't do that with eyes though...

You guys are funny - all five pages of you! Why on earth does it matter to anyone which eye people put to the viewfinder? Beats me.

Use the right eye, but seems the left eye folks are winning so will have to try using the left.

My left eye is my dominate eye I H ave always used it. However, a few months ago I started seeing floaters and have started using my right eye. Hard to get used to.

Didn't read all 4+ pages but I use my left eye primarily because it does a better job in conjunction with the camera body in blocking out light. It's kind of like the old hood over the head deal.

I am left-handed and left eye dominant, therefore use my left eye for telescopes, viewfinders, etc. I try to force myself to use the right eye when looking through camera viewfinders because most cameras seem to be set up for right eye use.

I'm mostly left handed - I use my left eye. Pool shot or rifle for me is left handed with left eye over line of sight.

Statistically I would have expected 2/3 of us to be right-eye-dominant. This makes me wonder if a higher percentage of lefties drift into photography...

You guys just made me learn something interesting about myself. I am right handed and right eyed and usually shoot right-eyed but with my left eye closed. Why closed? Because with my left eye open I see outside the camera great but my view in the viewfinder with my right eye is like a form of double vision. So I close the left eye. Any way to cure this?

So I tried left eyed and it works fine with either my right eye closed or open. Except that all I can see from my right eye when open is my right hand on the camera. No joy there.
