I installed it on my windows 8.1 laptop several weeks ago from the disc without any problems. I used Elements 12 just a few times so am still learning.

It installed trouble free on my Dell laptop but would not install on my Dell desktop. Both ran Windows 8, both were new computers. Dell Software techs could not get it to install. Had to call Adobe support and they got it installed. It was a weird deal?

Not sure what is causing your problem, but I wonder why you are installing Photoshop Elelments when you already have the full Photoshop CS5?

that may be what is causing the problem.

I have just spent several totally frustrating days attempting to load this piece of software.
After virtually the whole application has intalled up comes the message:
"The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technology. Please restart you system and try again."
Needless to say this does not work and the same message recurs.
This is the most user unfriendly abominable piece of software that I have ever encountered. Not only will it not install it has damaged my copy of Photoshop CS5 Extended so that some features will not now work.
How an organization like Adobe have the nerve to sell such a totally unsatisfactory product is beyond comprehension.
I advise all UHH members to avoid this piece of excrement like the plague.
I have just spent several totally frustrating days... (show quote)

I don't think this is what is causing the problem. But who knows? I could be wrong. I have PS CS5 and PS CS6 installed on two computers. I installed Elements 12 on the same two computers. I didn't have any problems.

Check your system. My PSE12 installed in minutes , in the same directory as PSE7. Both are fully functional.

Had to upgrade. PSE 11 would not support Nikon D610
