Can anyone who has a 5200 help make a decision.I have a d50 using a tamarin 18-200.Am thinking of upgrading to the 5200 because mine only has 6 megpixels where the 5200 has 16 or 24.Bestbuy has it on sale for 750 with 18-55 and 55-300 lens included. And i hear the 5200 is lighter too since i am 72 yrs old. Thanks in advance

I purchased a refurbished D5200 body and refurbished Nikkor 18-200mm 3.5/5.6G VR II in October after trying a D60 for about 3 weeks. Wanted the extra ISO/Megepixels and flippy LCD screen. I added a battery grip and am very happy with the feel and function. I got a 35mm f1.8G also but the 18-200 is on most of the time. I skipped the kit lens and went with the superzoom and really like not having to change lens.

Which best buy did you get this price for? Im getting the same package but it will be $750 for the d5200 with the 18-55 lense and then its $396 for the 55-300 lense!

currently have the d5200 with articulating screen - which was a "+" feature. Thought d7100 is better camera no sure about Not having the articulating screen. At that age also where getting down for low shots is difficult at times. Wonder if the new d7200 or whatever Nikon calls it will have articulating screen and at what price premium?

I got refurb D5200 body for $570 and 18-200mm VR II for $580. However, the prices I just checked are quite a bit higher now. The difference in 200mm on a DX is only 3 degree view angle from the 300mm. http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/simulator/

That was my question also. I got my D5200 from Costco with both 18-55mm and 55-300mm for $999.99. I did an overall price comparison with all the common sites (including B&H and BestBuy) and the Costco bundle was the best for the buck. The 55-300mm lens is a huge plus in this package.

No kidding cause when I got mine I had to purchase the 55-300 separately and it ended up costing me $1200 something by the time I paid taxes on all of it.

If you are not a Costco member they charge you an addition 10% on top of the $999 plus tax! Iweas gonna get it there but I am not a member, this is what they told me!
So the $999 isn't including tax or the 10% for not being a member!

I agree... I almost didn't buy the D7100 because of it. Great camera, still hate the contortions I have to go through for certain shots... I am at one of 'those' ages also...
:-)

It's not just the age thing.
The flippy screen is GREAT for shootings down low when the ground is muddy or wet or rocky and you just can't sit or kneel.
It also allows you to shoot over fences and hit your target. It really helps in getting those candid shots. Also protects the screen from getting scratched when not in use.
I would buy the 7100 today if it had the flippy screen.

That's too bad. I've been a member for so long, I guess I just assumed everyone was one. I bought it in Oregon so I didn't even have sales tax - it was the bargain of the year for me.
