I may look into the case since I could hang it around my neck fairly protected as I ride my bike.
True.
I keep it in a Pelican case, which is waterproof and shockproof. It might not be very convenient to hang around your neck, but it would be more secure.

I've got the 1010 Pelican case and the camera fits perfectly in it. I'll keep that with me in a bike bag just in case I might encounter rain. I took the camera out on a ride with me today. The images are so sharp and clear.

I use the same case. I wasn't sure how the grip would fit in it, so that's another reason I held off on that.
Glad you're enjoying the toy, it should be perfect for your NC (SC?) trip!
Right, I understand about the grip possibly not fitting since it is a pretty clean fit. My upcoming trip was reason #1 for the purchase. I think it'll do an amazing job on the ride and take minimal space.
I got the Sony rubbery grip, I think it's called the AGR-1. On the Sony website it will cost around $12.99 but the Amazon site has it for around $14.99.
I use all you mention: the case, the wrist wrap AND the AGR-1. All good. None of them are too much, all help in one way or the other.
I do like the grip, it is small like the camera is. It really does help for gripping, it is rubbery grip but I do not know what is made of, doesn't really matter. it works.
Hey check out my review for the Sony AGR-1 on the Amazon site under "molde music" because I suggest that it really helps to have small hands when using this camera ! Great camera but really small.
Capo, I tried to find your review in Amazon under molde music but couldn't. Would you pls send me the link? My hands are small and I like to have some texture applied to the body of the camera, especially while it's cold outside, the metal body is cold and seems quite slippery.

Have been using my RX100M2 for about 5 months. I also agonized about skins and cases. Decided to just buy the Sony grip since it was the cheapest. Have not had a single problem with it being too slippery, using the grip and wrist strap works fine for me. Absolutely love the camera.
I wound up buying the $52(?) case with neck strap. I really like it and can easily remove the camera and drop it into the Pelican case when needed.
