Sony RX 100 grip, skin or case

I just received my Sony RX100 yesterday and need advice from other RX100 owners. Indeed the body is slippery so am wondering whether to go with a grip, a skin or get the leather case for carrying around my neck. I suppose the purpose mostly would be reducing the possibility of dropping the camera, even though I've attached the wrist strap.
Thanks for your thoughts on this issue.

I think the wrist strap could be enough. I agree it does not feel very secure. There is so little room for a grip to really matter, and how it's held is not as consistent as a DSLR which is up to the face. Someone asked about this last month, so I held onto mine for a little while, and couldn't imagine the grip helping. I think the strap is the right safety net.

Thanks for your speedy reply. What do you think about the skin then adding a little extra texture for a better hold on the camera?

It makes sense. Personally, I don't like leather, and if there was one which was rubbery, I might consider it.

Yes, the skin is faux leather but from the images I've viewed it can give it a nice appearance. Thanks for your input. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Do you have a link for the faux leather one? The only thing I saw was real leather.

My mistake ... I was thinking it was faux leather and it's actually genuine leather. When I read Leatherette, I was thinking faux. Looks like the skin can be bought via eBay from Hong Kong for $15.

So leatherette is an imitation? Seems as though it was used interchangeably in the searching I've done the past few hours. If i do go with the skin, I'll be sure it states genuine leather. Thank you.

Leatherette is imitation. When you search for leatherette, google will often return both.

Why do you want genuine leather? If it gets at all wet, it can become even more slippery.

I'd never use the camera in the rain. But I feel the need to have more of a textured surface to hold the camera comfortably and confidently. So B&H Photo was where I saw the word Leatherette. They're currently offline so I can't check their pricing for imitation leather but I will look into it.

I didn't mean shooting in the rain, but if some water gets on it, the camera will survive, but leather can become slippery. The case is "Polyurethane", which is vinyl. B&H is not taking orders, but you can browse the products.

Ahhh, I get it now about the leather possibly getting wet. I tried viewing the products on B&H's site but my hourglass kept spinning. I'll try viewing again.

I had a slippin, grip when using my Canon s95 and riding my bike , I used a safety strap around my neck and added a hand grip by Richard Franiec It sticks on and makes for great one handed shooting and now he has created accessory grip for Sony RX100 - Hope it is of some help

Remember naugahyde? That was another artificial product - vinyl.
