After resizing my pics I like to put an 'e' on the end of the file name so I know which ones have been resized for 'e'mail, clever, no? 12345.jpg vs 12345e.jpg

Nice idea.

If you're running Windows you have Windows Live GAllery already installed. It's simple to use and does a lot of things. Open a photo, click on the edit tab at the top, click on "properties" and there's resizing tool on the pulldown.

Also, they have builtin tools for uploading to Skydrive which is a storage place. If you sign up for Skydrive, it's free, you can attach pix to email and it automatically uploads to Skydrive. THen the recipient can view the picture in email and download it to their computer if they like.

Microsoft built a very usable tool for pictures and it's already there if you have Windows.

I give money to two organizations on the Web. Wikipedia and Irfanview. I have used Irfanview, for over 10 years. I update it when I think wouldn't it be nice if it also did.... I update and find that NOW it does. It does simple editing, re-sizing, cropping, batch jobs, panoramas etc. It's small. It occupies only 2 Mb on my hard drive. It's free, loads fast and runs fast. There are no ads and it doesn't change my settings. If I want to fine tune an image, I go to Adobe but when I want to view, adjust and shove something onto the web in less than a minute it's Irfanview.

Of their 71 million downloads, I think 10 are mine.

It's actually a pretty easy thing, and it gets done all the time (think about viewing a picture full screen or in a window). So every tool which can display a picture can resize it, the only question becomes whether it lets you save the resized pic.

I use Adobe for Downsizing and we were always told back when there were the old MSN Groups to downsize to 640 x 480 before posting our pictures so that is always what I do before emailing a picture to someone or posting in an online group. So then what I do when titling the picture if I have done that is put a DS in front of the title of the picture and then if I have posted it online I then put a P in front of that so I know I have posted it in a group. Then I will not be posting the same pictures over and over again since I have so many different ones to choose from. A lot of people I am sure with having so many are not going to remember which ones they have and unless they are a small group will not be able to see the day or two before which pics they did post.
