Like I said...to resolve a problem.

Gee, don't get touchy, get into the twenty-first century and take a breath. Technology can be wonderful thing. Also, the more convenience we demand by speaking to "a live body" drives operating costs up. Some thing "need to be handled " on the phone, I am suggesting not as many as some think.

I had a Sony 35mm 1.8 in my cart on a Saturday but as everyone knows, B&H doesn't handle orders on Saturday due to the Sabbath. When I tried to order it on Monday, the price had gone up $50 because Sony stopped the rebate so B&H couldn't/wouldn't honor the lower price.

Nikon is that way. They control pricing on all cameras/lenses. I wish vendors could have control of prices but they don't. B & H has always done an excellent job for me on all purchases, questions, or problems. There has to be more to this story than that.??

Same thing happened to me at Adorama. Bought the Sony A77 $200 instant rebate with the assuarance the rebate would end on the 2nd of the next month. Lo and behold, it did and was replaced with a $300 rebate. I quizzed Adorama about an adjustment and got a reply asking for purchase information and since then the silence has been deafening.

Always 3 sides to every story. I still order from B&H because they are the best.

Nice that B&H stepped up to the plate, and it is in their self-interest to do so. In the age of the Internet, bad news travels at light speed, and a thread like this demonstrates how it could have had a real dampening effect on sales, but because of how Henry from B&H handled it, it becomes a great save, with both the company and the customer doing well.

Someone should include B&H in one of those MBA business cases to show how to do it right.

(Nikon and Nikon USA are another matter, and they should have MBA business cases showing how to do it wrong. Shutting down supply to independent repair shops, and refusing to service their grey market product, even without the warranty, is just a great f-u to their customers. Let me guess: You spend millions on advertizing and then undermine that by giving customers the finger when it comes to service if they bought the product out of country. Brilliant - NOT!)

Henry, a company like B&H shouldn't be caring "Grey Market" items. They are to good for that, and you should have checked when you ran into this problem. My question would be," why are you caring "Grey Market" items in the first place?
B&H is a very good store, dealt with them in the past, no problem. I am glad you got it worked out and good shooting...

I agree with the power of the internet assessment, but what I dislike seeing is irresponsible people using that as leverage to get their way on something they must share some or all of the blame. "Part of the cost of doing business" is a heck of an excuse. This drives up operating costs that we share. If you purchase "grey area" merchandise, belly up to the bar if you have problems. Another observation is that anyone who reads reviews should be smart enough to objectively evaluate. I'm not going to let a few poor or overly stated reviews influence me. Vendors typically do not set manufacturers policies and if they get too arrogant, we have options, but I would suggest they've already contemplated that. Just a frustrating morning! More snow comming in and car won't start! :)

It was at the end of November, and whether they allow or disallow a response should have been given.

Thank you and I just sent an email to Helen .

Just about all my expendable income goes to new photography toys. I've had many transactions with B&H and wouldn't consider doing business with anybody else. Purchases have been correct and arrived timely and complete. I've talked with customer service and asked questions all with professional responses. Sorry you had that experience but I think it was an anomaly -not the norm.
