Hello hoggers, this morning dawned beautiful, clear, and cool. My granddaughter Erica and I took off cameras in hand for Lyonia Preserve in Deltona, Florida. The Florida Scrub Jay was our main target and we were extremely fortunate to find plenty. Erika will post her photos later today or tomorrow. All photos this post are straight from the camera, no cropping or any kind of post processing. I hope you enjoy them. Please try the downloads.

Loved them all! Thanks!

Thanks for stopping by erbiv, scrub jays are just about the size of the common blue jay with a longer tail. Overall length about 9.1 to 11 inches. Its on the endangered species list because of habitat. It can only live in the Florida Oak Scrub and of course in unprotected areas that scrub is as endangered as the bird. I believe that other species of scrub jay face similar problems but seem to be more adaptable to encroachment. Its a wonderful bird and super intelligent and friendly.
