i'd go with the gossen luna pro sbc with the spot attachment or a Pentax analogue 1 degree spotmeter. actually both, as you will find use for each.
they are simple, relatively inexpensive on ebay and durable as all get out.
sekonic builds a wonderful meter, but not for a beginner. later on, perhaps.
