A "Photographer" gets it right in-camera, an "Editor" tries to make it right in Photoshop

The object of the exercise is to MAKE the best photograph you can. For the SOOC crowd if you are satisfied with your
processed "in camera" jpegs so be it.

For most of us who shoot raw the MAKING of the photograph starts once the shot is put in the raw converter.
But you say, that was not what was seen? You did not get it right in camera?

The camera and the human eye see things differently. obviously. So what is the resolution of the human eye at which a camera would be able to truly capture an image the way the eye sees it?
576 megapixels! Therefore once cameras reach 576mp the photographs you take will look exactly the same as you see them. You will finally get it right in-camera. Until then we mere mortals will limp along trying to MAKE the best photographs we can with the tools at hand.

Great, then tell me how to get 30+ stops of light in camera. I mustn't know enough about photography, since I use Photoshop to do it.

The human eye can only dicern 11 stops of light, so any more would be created in post, not natural-learn how to use your camera

It's actually something over 20 stops, and I'm trying to learn how to use my camera but you're not telling me! You said it was 'easy to get it right in camera once you learn photography', but keep telling me to post process these HDR shots. Are you not capable of getting it right in camera?

I always get it right in camera-The example given on natural hdr post processing was part of my photoshop tips for people who can't get it right in camera. If you read through my course you will understand. You can find it here: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user_posts_listing.jsp?usernum=17691&page=2

It's nice to hear from the only photographer in the world who ALWAYS gets it right in the camera. What a guy! Pete Turner (look up his work) would love to know your secret!!!!

"Natural" maybe but it's not what you've called "true HDR". It's still a 16 bit file. True HDR is 32 bit and has to be converted to 16 bit. With your experience you should know that.

"True" hdr is what the eye sees-no more than that-most hdr images we see are overdone, and go past the limit of human vision

Anyone can get it right in camera-it's very basic photographic understanding of exposure, and white balance-

I never stated that I get it 100% right in camera, in fact, I stated that I use photoshop to tweak the gamma-no-one gets it 100% in camera, however clever they think they are-please read carefully what I state-don't misquote me.

Actually it's an 8 bit file-I only shoot jpeg-because I am able to nail exposure and white balance, I do not need to use raw processing-my clients don't give a rats ass how the image is made-they are only interested in the final image.
