first thing uyou need to know is your budget, muission accomplished, next how heavy is your gear>?
Heavyier is more expensive than lightweight. Ball head or pan head? how far you going to lump it? Aluminum or carbon? for the casual shooter the top end of the light weight spectrum will suit you. Likewise the casual shooter will make due with a tilt and pan. look at the plethora of options whjen yuou google PHOTO TRIPODS

Like to ad a big "AMEN" to this after trying one that I had for another purpose and buying one without really trying it with my camera and lens, I finally went into Show Case Camera in Atlanta and tried out several and taking advantage of their expertise bought what should work for me now and in the future as I buy larger lens. "Cry once" and be done with it.
google rocketfish 47" carbon ball head and cheap.

This topic comes up quite frequently.
Quality tripods are expensive. Cheap ones are not very user friendly and tend to discourage the photographer from using it. I went with a Gitzo 2531 & a RRS BH30 ball head. Its so easy to set up and use that I seldom don't use it.
Here's something to consider.

Seconded. As noted above, under $100, unless there's a sale on, or unless you buy second-hand and you know what you're buying, you are unlikely to get much worth having. At $150 there is some good basic stuff. By $200 there is some choice.
To the OP: avoid as many bells and whistles as possible: geared centre columns, QD heads, that sort of thing, as they are easy to make cheaply and badly, and to peddle to people who mistake 'features' for quality.

I recently bought a combination tri pod/monopod at Best Buy.
I can't say the brand name, but it was about $100 and serves 2 purposes.
Have you considered a monopod attached to the frame of the wheelchair with 2 or 3 screw type hose clamps? If the stem was not perfectly vertical you could compensate with the mounting plate adjustments. OR how about just using the monopod as is and fit the wheelchair with 2 tool clips to carry it on the chair when folded?
WOW! thanks full of info.....i do think im gonna look into monfrotto,my current tripod sucks i desperately need one
i prefure Manfroto with there quick release plates. I have a plate attached to each camera and long lens. It makes it very easy swithching between cameras and lens mount. Just 2 sec. to change. I also us the mono pod makes it easy going free hand to mounted.
I just got a Manfrotto from best buy $ 60.00 regularly. Came with pistal grip ball head. You might have a look at sunpack they have some models with pistol grips ball head.
A good place to look is local pawn shops. Take your camera with you and talk to the personel. I have done this with several shops and I get notified when they get items in that are an interest to me and in good shape.
