Beautiful! You must be pleased with the results you're getting from the newbie :)
Oh yes, indeed! I still have a huge amount to learn about it, but I have figured out which is the front bit! Of course, it doesn't have the reach of the SX50 - at least not with any lens I am ever likely to afford.
I have actually found it very satisfying to actually zoom and focus with my hand on the lens... I haven't had a camera which I could do that on since I sold my A1 back in 1990. I played a bit with the auto-focus, but when shooting in the woods, it would tend to lock onto a stray branch or something. Most of the time I just set it on manual.
Of course, I had also forgotten about the fun of changing lenses...
I did find something which I was not expecting. There have been many discussions on here over the past few months about size of SD cards, and whether or not to change them, stuff like that. Given that my 2 previous cameras worked the same way, I just assumed that it was the norm. What I am talking about, is that the SX and my earlier powershot both create a new folder for files every day (or month, I believe you can set.) That made it easy to keep everything in order, effectively using the card as an extra level of backup for the data.
Now I find that the T4i doesn't do that. If you don't create a folder and tell it to use that one, it will just merrily keep on dumping files into the same place. This is not an issue, but it makes it a bit less convenient to just keep on shooting until a 64GB card is full. If you are going to be formatting the card before each shoot, then swapping in a new card makes a bit more sense. Plus smaller cards tend to be much cheaper. Anyway, I have stated my point of view many times, without realising that other cameras didn't organise things the same way, while others were probably being just as vehement about *their* process, without knowing that the SX did this.
Just a snippet of info for the day...
I have the 2 kit lenses (I guess...), plus a 75-300mm zoom. That one doesn't have the IS on, and doesn't give a whole lot more reach than the 55-250mm, so I don't see a huge need for that, other than maybe tripod-mounted stuff, or bright sunny days. I haven't tried that one out just yet.
I'll post some more from yesterday's outing when I get them processed. Busy with music arranging today...
