Well over two years here and have graduated from one plateau to another and the last of my personal plateaus was attained in 2013 therefore I want to eventually set up a couple of goals, not resolutions as resolutions are made to be broken how as goals are to be reached.

My first one is to learn how to type.

But more important is learning how to compose and produce, in conventional photography, photos that ask a question. What the heck is that? Huh, why did he do that like that? etc.

I posted this one the other day, but it is an example of a question asking photo, simple and conventional but not often seen.

Petal and Spider Web:
Limiting the subject can bring clarity. This was originally a picture of many flowers in a barrel. It did nothing for me, and I was going to delete it. For grins, I zoomed in. That's when I saw the spider web radiating from the petal.

Your photos today highlight or feature the subject of my resolution. I seldom or never use a tripod and I am going to utilize the use of a tripod when taking pictures this year. I am very comfortable with handheld pictures as my subjects are often in motion, such as birds, and with my camera fixed or locked upon a tripod my success is often limited. I took some flower photos this summer past with using a tripod and I was pleased with the difference I could see. I also would like to visit a good location that would allow for a good long exposure experience.

Fred Ann, Have you tried a monopod? They are very light and easy to carry, especially if you are hiking. If you watch any sports events, you will see the photographers use them extensively. They provide stability, but are extremely flexible. You can change camera position without having to constantly adjust the head. Some tripods come with a monopod already incorporated into the design. The disadvantage is that when you are not taking your photo, you can't let go of it.

Have always liked your compositions with the lonely camera in them waiting to "catch a shot". To me , the single tripod also means - peace, as I'd be there alone where it is quiet and I can think!

I don't make resolutions, but I do set some goals or direction for myself and I'll try to translate the words into images. I have one I can post now. Great starte, Judy. Clever. Inspired by a post and some comments recalling a photo assignment of many years ago, I resolve to keep these glasses with my camera and incorporate them as part of an image, or the subject of the image during this year. I want to see how many different places and ways in which I can 'capture them. (Download and you can better see the detail and colors)

Yes, I have a monopod and have used to use it some, however I walk with a cane and have my hands often full, and the monopod didn't substitute well as a cane. Thanks for the reminder, I will use my monopod today when I go out.
