I do like my new camera. I have not used the video yet. This new camera takes a lot of getting use to (so many bells and whistles) so I am taking it a slow one step at a time. Looking forward to warmer weather, though, so I can do more outside.

Let us all hear what you find out from those at Canon regarding the charge indicator.

I have a T2i and two 'CANON' batteries that work perfectly. How come you all keep complaining but don't answer MT Shooter's question? Any off brand battery can cause more problems than just the 'battery life' indicator, it can damage the whole camera.

Tell me more about how an off brand battery can damage the whole camera.

Look into a vertical grip, holds 2 batteries.

The built in computer does not recognize the internal workings of (some, not all) off brands, and can confuse the built it. If I would buy a Canon, Nikon, Sony or your choice of camera and want to plug a cheaper brand of anything into it, then you are only asking for the end results. I do use Tamron lenses on my Canon, but they have an excellent reputation and I am perfectly pleased with the results. BUT they don't control the camera, where the batteries do for a minimal difference in price. That is your choice, I have had my camera (T2i) for four years and purchased a second Canon battery for my backup and have never had a problem.
