Sorry DEBJENROB. Heyrob does not have a closed mind. It is open to anything that seems to confirm his opinion. He picks his soundbites and sidebars carefully - it only matters that they support the mind that is already made up.

In regard to global warming, or climate change, or whatever one decides to call it, something is clear. It is a global issue and Heyrob is correct that those who support it have not proven it with the scientific method. Although it may be desirable, the method may not be globally applicable. The best we can do is assemble the facts and theories and make an honest, unbiased interpretation. This has been done and will go on.

The comments about government support being done to support global warming is ludicrous. The government uses independent, well established scientists to determine which projects are fundable. Is this what is meant by peer review???

Comments about Al Gore: well he has made lots of money. That is the American way. Negative comments about him are just political bashing. The poorer the argument, the louder, nastier and poorer the opinions.

I might be inclined to agree with you except that Al Gore made a silly amount of money associated with Global Warming and Carbon taxing. When you hail yourself as an "independent voice" but are conducting backdoor investments based on your message it hardly makes one impartial does it? Al Gore is and always will be a scam artist.

Here's an interesting article that may reveal some of Al Gore's hypocritical tendencies:

(one of many articles on the topic if you Google "Al Gore killed the IFR")

You guys are almost funny in your blind adherence to this myth of Global Warming. You claim that I have a closed mind, yet I am the only one in the debate, so far as I am aware, with a background in science. Frankly I don't care if you believe what I say, I've done the research on both sides and my money is on the side of reasoned provable fact, and you are on the side of illogical pseudo-science.

In real science you use the scientific method to lead you to a reasoned provable conclusion. In the pseudo-sciences however, you start with a desired result and you make up the facts as you go along to get to your preconceived notions. This is the present state of the climate change debate. Despite thousands of leaked email proving that scientists are cooking the books, to persuade the scientifically inept of the validity of a completely flawed and unprovable theory. There are more than enough folks like you who are completely unable to see the facts when they are thrown in your face.

I realize that even when scientists who are at the core of this debate admit in their emails to one another, that there is no definitive proof of man's involvement, and that it's been hotter before, or that solar activity has more to do with the climate than anything, and there is no correlation between CO2 and global average temperatures, you'll still cling to your myths and ignore the facts. The funny part is that you then claim I'm the one who has a preconceived idea and a closed mind.

Here's one last tid bit for you, it seems that professor Phil Jones who was in the middle of the Climate-gate scandal admitted the possibility that "the world was warmer in medieval times than now" – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon. Oh no! Say it ain't so!

Sorry, but I am several years post doctoral in a related science area and I do have the research tools to evaluate. Al Gore is not scam - just fodder for those of you who deny a significant problem and need another political scape goat.

Remember, meteorologists are right only about 50% of the time. Go look outside and see if there is precipitation.

Now that's funny, a banker and a psychologist! My self-image is quite healthy thank you, but since I'm not the one who sinks to name calling when he's bested, I think it's obvious to the others on the thread who has the issues.

Oh and I don't care if a million pseudo-scientists, buy into the global warming crap, the fact remains it has been proved, and consensus isn't science and science isn't consensus. I would love to sit down and discuss this subject with your hero, Mario Molina, since he seems so convinced of a link between man and the supposed warming of the climate. I did find a link to a speech he gave in 2012 where he spoke of such a link, yet at least had the intellectual honesty to emphasize that there is "no absolute certainty" that global warming is causing extreme weather events.' (Quote taken from the text of the speech, emphasis added)

You may not have entered the thread to learn anything from me, but like it or not, and believe it or not, you have. And even more importantly that fact only shows you to be foolish for failing to admit it to yourself.
Now that's funny, a banker and a psychologist! My ... (show quote)

Thanks imntrt1, it's nice to know that there are folks who can read and learn, and not just a those who seem proud of their ignorance. I threaten their flawed world view and they seem truly afraid that the sky isn't really falling. Odd don't you think?

Well, Yes and No. If we accept their flawed view they will counter with trying to convince us that "They" can fix it and we should be beholding to them. When the Sky doesn't fall they will tell us that it did not fall because of their intervention. My first suspicions that Global warming was not as presented was merely aroused by seeing who was touting its seriousness. Your posts have enlightened me a great deal and I appreciate that. Many years ago....In grade school....I used to tell everyone I wanted to be a scientist when I grew up....It was not to be because life got in the way....but I am still in awe of those that do it. In reflecting back on my life I suppose in some round about way I got involved in the science of criminal behavior by being a police officer for 38 years. It was fun to to be able to see, analyze, and stop criminal endeavor. I learned early on to trust my gut and know that sometimes something walking, talking and quacking like a duck was in fact, not a duck, but rather something someone wanted me to believe was a duck.
