Climate change is a complex issue and the evidence goes both ways depending on where you look. Just like the economy some places are suffering while other places seem impervious. Its about trends not individual data points. The better minds recognize this.

Would climate change happen even if humans were not present. Of course it would. Its a natural earthly process. Nobody that I know disputes that. But we are a major contributing factor and accelerate the process.

What if the climate change advocates are wrong. So we end up with new technologies, cleaner air and water, healthier children and generally the quality of life improves.

If they are right and we do nothing we bring down the worst plague imaginable on our children and their descendants. Your worst nightmare would be a cake walk a few generations in the future.

It seems like a no brainer to me.

Obviously you didn't read my posts on the scientific method, and the facts brought out by the ClimateGate scandals. There in absolutely no provable fact that mans is accelerating climate change. As for doing something toward prevention even if unnecessary, then no harm no foul (so to speak) sure if you don't mind throwing money hand over fist toward a problem that doesn't exist.

The "if they are right" part of your comment goes right to the fear-mongering side of the debate. There has been ZERO warming for over 15 years, there is ZERO evidence that warming causes more severe weather, and there is ZERO need to cause so much turmoil in the energy sector that people can't afford fuel anymore. There is however, no question that higher levels of CO2 increase crop yields, and that is a very good thing.

Thanks for your comments, it does go to further prove my belief that everyone has an opinion on the subject, no matter how factually uninformed it may be. I only hope that some reasoned and well informed information from someone who fully understands science and how it does and doesn't work will shine some enlightenment on those who still have an open enough mind to accept those facts, at least enough to spark some real study on the issue.

By all means don't take my word for all of this, but by the same token, don't buy all the hype from the alarmists who are peddling pseudo-science in the guise of the real thing. There is an old poem that says "in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king". Don't be blinded by adherence to a false narrative, there is too much evidence to the contrary to be found by those who are willing to open an eye.
