The Red-bellied Woodpecker as an art form subject.
Beautiful crisp set Joe, great stuff

It was cold this morning and the older you get the sooner it reaches your inner core. Charlie the birder and I were on a quest to see something different. We managed it. Our faces went from red to blue. Not very photogenic but it was different. As we retreated from the bush we came across the Red-bellied posing for us in a most alluring manner. Charlie said, "You're cold but you won't pass that up." With stiff fingers I turned the dials and took a string of shots of this gorgeous male. His colours are stunning against the drab browns and greys of the surrounding woods.
When I sat down to view the images I decided that I would take several images, post process them, crop and frame them, to show the bird as part of an art form rather than just a record shot. Whether I succeeded or not is at the discretion of the viewer.

I for one think you have done a
Fantastic job. I know how tough it
Is to get good pictures of this bird.
The colors you have captured are
Great, thanks for sharing. mdh
All very beautiful - immaculate. My favorite? I've got it narrowed down to 6 choices!
All the photos are good. And the blurred back ground used for the last two are worthy of hanging. Nice work.
All beautiful Joe. I like the 2 with the colourful background. It is different. The snowy owls are back already. So I will be going this week and try to catch a few pictures.

Excellent series of beautiful Woodpecker photos. Nicely done.
Beautiful Joe. I think I like the dark backgrounds best.

I totally agree with Bob Yakel's remarks.

I don't understand, the art form comment, as any photo is an art form, but they are wonderful photographic images!
These are all wonderful shots. It's hard to pick a favorite because they are all good and show the Woodpecker in great poses.
Excellent Series! You did good.
You certainly succeeded very well.
