This would make a great humorous greeting card, one of my favorite kinds.

Hostile!! Where did that come from?If you noticed beside my comment there was a LOL. It means 'laughing out loud'. I do not dislike wild animals, I feel sorry for them because we are the ones moving into their space and disrupting their 'livelyhood'.I do object to people feeding them and them getting accustomed to a 'free meal' instead of them fending for themselves. Some geese and ducks do not migrate south in the winter because people feed them year round. JMHO.
My apologies then, raysass - I don't see any "LOL" in your message.
I have mixed feelings about feeding wild animals, while I can certainly see woe that they can cause, I also feel that we've taken so much from them - the land and their homes, their food supplies and we've poisoned the waters that they drink as well. I believe we were intended to share this planet, not dominate and choke it to death, although humans have always been brutal creatures.
Nice pic, by the way.

Nice shot. So, in a few words, how do you do the frame like that?

I'm hoping you're just asking about the frame?
I open a new document of appropriate size - say 8.5 X 11. Then use "fill" with black so you have a black page.
Next select the "move" tool, click on your chosen picture and drag it to the black page. Use the dotted lines to adjust the size of the picture against the black page, then click to "anchor" it in position.
Next, go to layer - styles - line, choose a color - usually white, and size to what looks good to you usually 9 - 13 pixels, then OK. You should now have a black wide boarder with the white line adjacent to your picture. I normally use black - but you can choose any color you feel compliments your picture.
BTW - you don't need to stop at ONE picture. You can start with a larger page and drag in any number of pictures with the same technique - though this sample didn't use a white line boarder. Let your imagination flow!
I haven't tried this yet but you could use the technique of over the frame to produce a collection of pictures with people/animals/etc all overlaping into other frames so the whole creation appeared to be interacting with each other - imagine a person reaching out and touching a person in a different frame???? WILD!
Hope that's all clear???

This is one of my few attempts to portray an animal, or any subject extending beyond the frame. It took a couple hours to remember how I did it the last time and I still haven't gotten the technique perfected. In addition, the paw wasn't nearly as sharp and detailed as the rest of the animal, but he had such a cute expression - it was worth the effort, and may sell a few post card prints?? Comments or questions are welcome.

Many ducks and geese will not migrate if they have open waters. Fast moving creeks that do not freeze will sustain them threw winter.
Not where I live. All creeks and ponds freeze here.Lake Ontario does not freeze all over just close to shore.

We have proved to be the worst species on the planet.I promise I'll be nice to the next raccoon I see just for having this discussion with you. Ray.
I tried to do this once and just couldn't get it right like I was missing a step or two.

I take exception to that - I find all animals "adorable", beautiful, and fascinating - with the exception of the one who invaded your garden or house with unfortunate results. Even then, they're just trying to survive like all creatures on this planet.
   Love your raccoon with his little paw reaching out of the frame.

Sorry to hear that - but if you can learn to cut and paste it shouldn't be a problem. Take your subject, minus the limb or tail you want to overlap and put a border around it. Then just paste the missing appendage over the border, align it and you're there.

You took the words right off my keypad before I could type them. Love the shot. Works well with your subject. I have a bunch of raccoon photos taken this past summer. May have to learn how to do that out of frame thing.

Actually, that belief has been held by many for a long time, but, feeding them will NOT keep them from migrating. They just automatically know whether to migrate or not. Down is the warmest natural covering known to man/animal kind so birds maintain adequate warmth & store needed body fat. Animals can always use a helping hand. Also, animals do not "forget how to hunt" if they are fed. This has been going around for ages. It sounds true but it isn't. I didn't see an "lol" either. By the way, love the photo of the little ones.

The lol was on the first page with the comment about the Raccoons being adorable. I already deleted it but it should be there somewhere.
