This is one of my few attempts to portray an animal, or any subject extending beyond the frame. It took a couple hours to remember how I did it the last time and I still haven't gotten the technique perfected. In addition, the paw wasn't nearly as sharp and detailed as the rest of the animal, but he had such a cute expression - it was worth the effort, and may sell a few post card prints?? Comments or questions are welcome.

Saw instructions on how to do this in a book by Diane Koers, "Picture Yourself Learning Corel PaintShop Pro X5." I'm sure her book on previous versions of PaintShop also show the steps.

Haven't tried it yet.

There may also be instructions online on how to do this in Photoshop.

Thanks for the kind replies. This isn't something I'd do very often but on occasion with the right subject it gets attention. I expect to try another picture with the raccoon's tail hanging out over the frame.

very appropriate treatment in this case, very well crafted too. Love the idea of a tail hanging out below the frame too. Not for over-use but really cute here.

I take exception to that - I find all animals "adorable", beautiful, and fascinating - with the exception of the one who invaded your garden or house with unfortunate results. Even then, they're just trying to survive like all creatures on this planet.

I agree!!! Helped a wildlife rehabber with baby raccoons many years ago. I will never forget the experience. They were so sweet and loving. Mischievious? Yes and worth every torn piece of paper or other thing they got into. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Tore me apart when they had to move up to their next stage toward release. I cried for days but it was worth it knowing they would lead happy lives on a farm where they would be fed and safe all their lives.
