I can carry all my camera gear in one bag. My still camera - Canon Powershot something-or-other - and 2 video camcorders; one is one of these things that look like a cylinder, and the other is a tiny little thing - the poor man's gopro!

I am hoping to reenter the world of the slr at some point soon, so I will probably need a bigger bag!

Do you take the trombone on road trips?

In all honesty forget trying to get your wife to pack less. Don't fight battles you can't win. If in fact she packs less and as a result doesn't have her favorite whaterver 20 years later she will still blame you and she will pack even more on every trip you take. Trust me on this I have personal experience to back this up.

Me too!!

I often finding myself packing every piece of gear and gadget I own when on a road trip for a couple of days. That makes for quite a lot of gear! I don't want to leave it in the car overnight, so I end up packing 5 or 6 bags into the hotel room, and back out in the morning. I need to consolidate a road pack to accommodate my needs. What do you guys pack for a 2-4 day trip?

4x5 Viewcamera, 20 sheets of film, filters and lenses.
Hasselblad 500C - 6 rolls of film-min, 3 lenses, filters for each
Nikon F, 6 rolls 20 exp ea., 6 lenses
Nikon D700, 3 lenses, 2 memory modules, 3 batteries
Sekonic L-758DR exposure meter. Extra batteries
Handheld GPS, in addition to the Nikon GP-1
Maps, notebook, pens
Assorted clothing for various weather conditions
Gitzo Tripod
I've probably missed a thing or two, but that pretty much sums it up.

just returned from week on the west coast, did Bodie CA Yosmite & san fran . Took 1 camera body (7D), 24 to 105 L series, a 10 to 20 mm polarizing filter and 10 memory cards and 4 batteries all in a sling bag. Not once did I want for something I left at home. ( I did ship my tripod to a friends house and used it a lot)
