Straight. I see so many tilted photos by younger photographers who think that 1) an average photo is now a masterpiece. 2) It looks edgy, no it looks crooked. 3) A photography instructor (probably a hack) told me that is the New Big Thing. 4) It irritates me to no end.

Can you tell?

Eric

I have noticed a lot of Facebook friends who are photographers are really into 'tilting' their photographs. Some of them are so extreme, it drives me crazy. I guess I'm showing my age about this subject! However, the tilt on this picture shows the beautiful detail of the dress and is not too extreme in my opinion. If you have a level shot that shows all the detail, please post it!

Years ago many pictures were taken with a square format film camera that was often tilted into a "diamond" shape to capture something at the top or bottom of the picture that would have been cut off if the camera was level.

I still think the untilted full gown picture is the winner.

i, personnally, prefer the straight as well. i'm more "old school" - but, my daughter is in that younger generation (my model in the wedding dress) & every time we take photos she has to have the tilted posses. drives me crazy too!!

The tilted version doesn't show any more dress detail than the straight one.
The tilted version looks like the bridge was built by a drunk carpenter. (just my humble opinion)
In any case, having both versions should pacify almost everyone.
It's a nice picture.

Just my opinion: I went to a wedding in December, young couple, many of the photos were tilted and the bride didn't like them.
I think it is ok to take a few shots like that and see if she likes them, if so maybe you can tilt others in PP just as well as you can straighten them, I don't know...
Perhaps the best plan would be to show the bride tilted photos from your portfolio and she if she likes the concept. Go from there...
