I was exited to make a wedding slideshow from Lightroom directly from my collection. Disappointed however in the limitations. Need an outside audio editor for more than one song, very few transition options, text editor is lacking.
Can anyone recommend a good slideshow program? I saw from a previous post that Proshow was mentioned.
I Use
Sony "Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum" 4 years. Love it.Great software. Plus " Digital Hotcakes" Wedding Essential for a special touch of elegance and style to your wedding video/slideshow. Need a little learning and patience for the beginning of course, but finish effect is great.
Also to add some

I'm on a Mac and use Imovie. I just import the photos, and set the transition and timing and I'm good to go. I can edit and use as many different pieces of music as I want.
I do move my slideshows to imovie. Forgot to mention that in my previous post.

I didn't take time to read all the posts so I'll recommend one of two. Video Pad by NCH software is excellent with unlimited audio tracks. It will do video and audio and has a pretty good grafics track and plenty of transitions.
Another I'd recommend is TrakAxPC. It's from Scotland I believe and just an excellent video / stills editor with lots of different transitions as well. Virtually unlimited audio tracks, like Video Pad, room for a voice over track and plenty of music as well.
Video Pad pro is about $100. TrakAx, no disc available for download only is about $35 if I remember correctly.
Good luck

Mac 'iMovie ' is a junior 'Final Cut Pro', the commercial editor. Slide show options are pretty good.

I can't believe that none of our fellow UHH's across the water have not recommended Cyberlink Power Director. It's got everything you need, from great transitions, to theme templates and wizards that put the whole theme and audio together for you for a quick movie.I've just had a quick look and it retail's over here for nearly £60, that's approx. $90 in the US. I purchased the download version a couple of years ago and have upgraded a few times simply because it's support is excellent and you can also access over 1,000,000 free pics, motion video's, Dvd menu's, audio and can be accessed and downloaded while using the software.
If you are running Windows 7/8, the best audio program I've found is one called Audacity. It is free. The link is
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. Be sure to download the file Lame_v3.99.3_for_windows.exe so that you can export in mp3 format.
Have used iMovie and iPhoto which came bundled with my iMac.
They are also in the iLife program available from Apple.
Can put slide shows on dvd with Apple iDvd also bundled with iMac , show on your TV, and share them with friends. Good luck. I enjoyed doing this.
Try free slideshow software: Perfect Photo Show -
www.perfectphotoshow.comIt's a simple program with intuitive interface and it's freeware.
Of course, if you need professional slideshow product better to choose ProShow Producer by Photodx ($250) or PicturesToExe Deluxe by WnSoft ($75) as recommended above.

I have used Windows Movie Maker, and it is good.
But my favorite is....Pinnacle Studio Ultimate.
(I am using version 12) It has everything you need to make great slide shows.

I have been using Wondershare. It allows a variety of transitions - you can select, or let the program provide an assorted number of transitions as you load your pictures. It is fairly intuitive to use and allows easy swapping of images and music with a mouse move. It also will let you create an image file (iso) that makes burning multiple DVDs easier. Last year I had to create a DVD for someone in England and this program allowed me to burn the DVE in PAL format used in Europe. It allows creating shows for variety of formats including MP4 used in smart phones (Android and Iphone).
I believe that I downloaded the trial version before I chose this program. And yes - you can add any music you have on your pc in MP3 format to your slideshow. You can also adjust the length of a song selection to fit you needs from right inside the program. I have both versions (Advanced and Standard) and find the "standard" mode best suits my requirements. I have created shows with up to 300 wedding jpgs - show runs around 35min. Brides love it!!! and there appears to be no way to extract the photos from the slideshow.
Good luck in your selection.
I downloaded Photo Stage slide show. Had to buy it of course, but I made a slide show of local veterans and I have never done it before, it allows you to add your own music, you have to calculate how much time is involved per song, you can add graphics, fade in and out, scroll your pictures and other options, easy to work with, I wasn't sure that I could pull it off but I did. You can save the master copy and make other DVD's easily. I think it cost around $100.00.
