I hear ya on the HP. I have had my Epson 1900 for a couple of years and I love it. I had a bit of trouble at one time having the paper load, then I use alcohol on a cloth and wiped clean the paper grabber and it solved the problem. I just love Epson. Have the Epson photo scanner. I have tired HP and Canon but best so far is the Epson.

The last time I had a paper load problem the factory rep told me NOT to use alcohol on those rubber rollers. It dries up the surface chemistry and will cause the rollers to eventually slip. He recommended warm water to wipe those down.

I really like my Kodak printer, but since they are quitting the printer market, when I need to replace it I plan to go for Epson Artisan or PhotoStylus.

I will not consider HP for anything other than text printing, however they do have some very nice Color Laser models.

have two Epsons, both getting long in the tooth. Both still work great. BUT, ink very expensive now and find it cheaper to use Costco, Sams, Walmart, etc. Only use my printers for something very special.

Ray that is an important note. Back in my workdays I repaired all kinds of printers and after a few printers, I discovered that rollers should only be cleaned with water.

I recently bought the Epson R3000 photo. It'll print up to 13 x 19 and do panoramic on roll paper. I am astounded as to the quality of the prints because this is my first venture into pigment ink. The "gotcha" is the cost of the ink because it has 9 large ink tanks.

This is my 5th Epson and I'm really happy with it, plus B&H had a great deal on it with a $150.00 rebate.

Also, as MT mentioned you can't beat Red River Paper for the price and quality. Plus NEVER,.. EVER buy paper from Epson. B&H and Red River have much more sensible prices and alternatives.

Epson has been good to me for the last 5 years using the Stylus R340 with very good print quality. After years of service I think we finally wore out the paper feeder, but still prints perfectly, so we went and got the Artisan 837 yesterday on sale for $127.00 from Office Max. It has a little bit of everything for my office work and photo printing along with blue tooth features, I suspect this will plug along for another 5 years for us. On a huge discount, I think it was dollars well spent. :-)

I have bought paper from Epson but only when it is 40% off and with free shipping. Not familiar with Red River but will have to checkl them out.

I have just gotten back into photography seriously during the past year. A long time ago I used to do some B&W darkroom work but away from it for work and family reasons. Also pretty much gave up photography altogether, only keeping it as a vacation or special occasion activity.

Digital imaging has changed all that. Now I actually enjoy both taking photos and making prints.

As an over the road truck driver I carried a h/p all in one in my semi for 4 years and never had any trouble with the printer. My problem with it was I kept forgetting to buy new ink cartridges.
