I have to get a new printer. HP and I have desolved our relationship because of printer problems. They replaced the printer and it broke. No satisfaction... If someone mentions buying a HP, slap them across the head until they change their mind. I know all have opinions on the best and most reliable so what are they? I am in the market..

Cheap printers are less than reliable no matter what the brand. I have used my HP 130nr for almost 4 years now without a hitch and print 24x36 inch with it at least once a week. 24" roll paper is quite economical too.

I hear ya on the HP. I have had my Epson 1900 for a couple of years and I love it. I had a bit of trouble at one time having the paper load, then I use alcohol on a cloth and wiped clean the paper grabber and it solved the problem. I just love Epson. Have the Epson photo scanner. I have tired HP and Canon but best so far is the Epson.

I recently bought an Epson Artisan 1430, and so far I have not had a single issue with it. I've always had good luck with Epson in the past. I've never had to use their customer service, but I have read that it's first rate.

I sold my printer and am much happier. If you like buying paper and ink; fine. If you like spending your time printing; fine. I now use professionals to color correct my work and spend their time on my prints. They have better vision and better printers. I print so few because I live in the digital world and its working for me.

I have the Caqnon Pixma 9500 - think it does a good job BUT the ink is too expensive! Consequently, don't do much printing

What papers and length do you use. Have you had to clean printer head? TYIA

I use HP 24" x 50' rolls, 11 mil thickness, and almost always satin finish. I occasionally have requests for Semi-gloss so I always have some around. I have also used some Red River Ultra Satin, but it is more than double the HP price and I see no significant improvement in quality, even at 24x36 size.
I always use HP inks, the 85 series inks are reasonable when you consider the size of inktank you are getting. I have never had to clean or change the printheads yet, and I have printed a LOT of large prints with this unit.

I agree with you for the most part. I have Costco do almost all my printing up through 11x14 size. But I have had better results at home with 16x24 and up because of better control, and my costs are around 60% of what even Costco charges. And at 24x36 I have compared prints side by side, and I like my $9 home print quality better than the $15 Costco quality.

WOW! 16X24 for $15? I'm going to send mine to you for $9 and I'll buy lunch. LOL And I am not going to print this with a watermark or signature release.

No 16x24 is the size I start printing my own at. $9 is my cost for a 24x36, as compared to $15 at Costco.

so outrageous it may be better to print 4by6's and if you like the pic's,send them out .If You have a lot of cash print Your own.........

I use an Epson PhotoStylus R2880 and love it. Only limiting factor in my mind might be its maximum print size of 13x19. The prints I have made I have been well pleased with. It does require changing of ink cartridges quite often as there are 8 seperate inks and it seems one or the other in constantly running dry. Individuals cartridges are about $14 each but a full set can be bought on B&H for about $100. Epson has had a rebate on this printer quite often so you can usually pick it up for around $300. If you need a printer to make larger sizes, Epson's prices will rise considerably.
