Dust is Nature's surface protectant. Leave it where it is!

Bass Pro Shops just sent an e-mail advertising .223 ammo at a very good price (while supplies last....). I use a bean-bag for macro photography of things on the ground as well - wild mushrooms can be very colorful.

So you'll fill the bag with ammo? Sounds like a plan. Have a zipper in the side for easy reloading.

Been looking for a bean bag for general use with the bigger lenses. A friend suggested that I try the gun shop. The third one I tried ( Gander Mountain ) I found this. Works remarkably well. If shooting from the car, just turn it upside down and it fits and stays on the window when it is partially open. I considered it a bargain at 14.00.

Shooting from the car? Are you guys frightened of the lions in those parks or are you talking about Minority Pedestrians in town? Could I interest you in a 2nd-hand armoured car?

That's where the flip up articulated LCD comes in handy. It's much easier driving and looking at the tilted LCD that to keep lowering my head to the viewfinder. :D

I'm mainly interested in culling the herd of tourists that have descended upon our area.

There are lots of parallels between these two types of "shooting" The bag I use to carry most of my gear is actually a tactical shooter bag but it works great for hauling my camera stuff.

I also use a hard sided gun case to store my camera bodies and lenses during transportation (see the photo).

On the serious side, I can pull up to the lake, 100 yards from the house, and the wild life pays no attention to the car. The minute I step out they all vanish. Makes a good blind. It sure beats sitting in the bushes with the bugs.

Funny you should say that. Years ago, NY state put up some roadside guardrails but never painted them. When they began to rust, people complained. Not to worry. The rust was the protectant. Somehow, they were designed to rust just enough to keep them from rusting away completely.
