This was taken from a felled tree simply because it looked interesting. Am gonna clean it up and stain it, but what should I do with it?

It measures 48x60 inches...suggestions for use...

How about a bird blind?

With a little work it would make one hell of a tripod!

If you have access to having it sandblasted it would make a beautiful screen, which you could also grow some kind of vine plant on if you wanted. I have found that the best way to clean up that kind of wood is to sandblast it. It takes out all the dead bark and fuzzy stuff and you are left with the beautiful wood itself.

That would become a beautiful part of my "inside" jungle.

Have fun!

Lay it down with the curved side on the bottom and weave basket weaving material of some kind thru it at intervals....find a thick grapevine piece for a handle and you have a really neat rustic basket!

Now that's a good idea! Just carry it like a shield and quietly sneak up on them!

I've posted this on other photography sites but you guys, in spite of having a fair number of you that seem to be off your meds,
have had the best suggestions.

"I think you are in the wrong place for ideas. Find some sites for wood carvers or wood artists"
This I'm going to follow up on, once I get it cleaned up and finished with some epoxy stain.

If you have a wooden fence, mount it on it.I have seen home owners mounting drift wood in between their posts mid panel.
This might look nice as a stand alone install too.Good luck.

"Swamp Thing" will be looking for his shield...

I think it's cool!

Mount some dimable small lights hidden on the backside & mount it somewhere appropriate! Ceiling lamp? Stabilizing it will be important.

Fellow who thinks it's poison ivy, now that would be SOME major poison ivy! Jurassic park size! I've seen some trunks on poison ivy in Cape Cod- but nothing like that!

OK Chauncy, I suggest you send it to The Tate, in London and enter it for The Turner Prize for modern art. It is far more interesting than a preserved dead sheep or cow, or an unmade bed. The prize is worth £40k so it's worth a thought.

FYI...I'm the poison ivy "gal"...not "fellow"!

I guess you've never been around multiple poison ivy stems that've been allowed to climb up a tree for years undisturbed....
They can get very thick!
Try looking in Ohio! ....stems were as thick as my wrist! (I left it where it was!)
