Just getting here and could use some help with buying on line!
I'm looking to upgrade to a rebel T5i. My question is has anybody bought from 42nd St, Camera? Their price body only is $625 with so many scams out there, thought I'd ask! thanks Basil

I think I would prefer to deal with B&H or Adorama, yeah B&H definitely,
Bob.

B&H or Amazon, I find, are the best on line sellers out there.

Hunts photo in MA has great customer service, free shipping and for a short time longer no sales tax the feeds are going to take that away from us soon.

Hunts prices are very high. Don't know why they are not closer to Amazon or Adorama.

The "feeds"? You mean "feds" of course. I think the states are hungry for tax money, as well.

I can only tell you that I have many purchases from B&H Photo via their website & telephone with complete satisfaction.

I have also purchased from Cameta Camera on Long Island in person. However, they also do internet sales.

I agree, B&H, Cameta Camera and also Adorama are all places you can buy from with confidence. They might even give you a better deal.

You can't go wrong with B&H in New York.

My vote would go to B&H, Adorama or Cameta can't go wrong with any and the customer support will be there should you need it.

They just want to level the playing field between 'brick and mortar' stores and internet/mail-order sales.

The sales people at 42nd Street are pushy. Bad experience on my one and only purchase. I will never to back there. As others have replied - I have had the best results from two top sites - B&H and Amazon. You have to watch Amazon on price if an item is in demand. They use other suppliers and some times the price is too high for an item - again as it relates to hot items in short supply. Both supplies top notch when filling your order or taking returns. 42nd has hugh restocking fees - beware.

Walter, if you are talking about state sales tax. They "STATEs," are not leveling playing field. The state that collects is generating revenue. Your statement is inaccurate and uninformed. Most manufactures and some stores are licensed to do business in a state and are thus required to collect tax.

*SOME* stores. B&H, Adorama, Cameta, Amazon [in most states] are NOT currently collecting/remitting sales tax to the states they sell into. Whereas local stores MUST.
Manufacturers [typically] don't sell their own products, but have distributors/retailers that perform that function.
And the states are not 'generating' any revenue that they aren't already entitled to.
Please give evidence to the contrary.

Walter the point I was making is that it's not leveling the playing field. Their are entities that are taking advantage of holes in taxing systems. Almost every piece of equipment that i own can be purchased from that manufacture on line, OptechUSA, Canon, ect, ect. Almost all of the manufators that I know of do refurbished and they do it by internet. I agree with your statement, "the states are not 'generating' any revenue that they aren't already entitled to."

By making sure that anyone who is doing business in your state or mine Pays State Tax is by my legislators generating revenue, ie. saying the same thing with different wording.

I just purchased a T5i from Cameta Camera and it came in very quickly. I would buy from them again. No hard sell or push to buy upgrades. Very satisfied. Love the camera by the way.

Frist thank you all for the welcome, second thank you all for the 'good'
advice which I took to heart. I went over to Oregon 'no tax' and bought my T5i body only $750 which seems to be the going price, and with the ex's battier grip, cards, total 1k 'but' I got what I wanted and its all quality. My old camera is a xti and I have to say I like the xti body a lot more, and yes I understand the T5i is a very solid upgrade.
Good shooting everybody ...... Basil!

I would go to B&H Adorame of a reputable on line company. The name 42 Street reeks of tourist trap
