Those are really eerie but cool! I LOVE the blue stove and would love to get my hands on it. :-) Cheers.

Where do you stay when you go over to Bodie? I am thinking that a midweek visit would be best, with not too many people about?

While I could do Bodie as a day trip from east Sonora, it would result in better images if I stay over there close by and had the better light options.

Hi, not sure if this will help much. Whenever I can get over in that area, I stay in June Lake. It's a quiet little town, they certainly can use the business. There is so much to see and do in that area. Mono Lake, Mammoth Lakes is really awesome. June is kind of in the center of things. If you are going just for Bodie, then staying in Bridgeport is the closest. They are open only till 3:00pm these days. In the next couple weeks they will shift to their summer hours, open till 6:00pm. Wherever you choose to stay, be sure to have an awesome time.

Great shots! I love shots of the old stuff. It won't be long before they're gone forever. I agree with some of the previous posts regarding the picture with the barrels in and what appears to be modern technology on the ceiling. Also, in the back right, there is a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling that also appears to be a new style light socket - to me, looks a little out of whack with the rest of the picture. A single bulb with clear glass is something that might have been more authentic. The newer tech stuff should be easy enough to get rid of, unless you like them which is what really matters here. Great shots nonetheless.

Ok, I took out the smoke detector and the fixture next to it. I left in the hanging lights in the back, they don't take much away from the history of the place. It's hard to believe that there were people living here up to the early 1930's.

Here's the fixed photo, and a couple more, hope you like them.

By reading some of the history on this place, I do know it is a real ghost town. From the pictures though, it looks like it has been contrived in a way, or is this actually the way people left it? Seems too much like people moved out and just left their belongings as they walked out the door. I mean who leaves with the table set for dinner? Cheers.

Hi, I went to Bodie last weekend, spent most of my time shooting the past through the windows. I would really like some feedback on them before I get them printed.

Thanks for looking.

I love photos of this sort, thanks for sharing, appreciated. Nice job!

Murphy's Motel in Lee Vining is a nice place to stay and the owers are very nice. It's close to Bodie and then again so is Bridgeport.

I love your fix and the new photos. If you want to get really picky...you might want to get some of the details more vertical or level. Just a suggestion and an easy fix. FYI I'm the kind that goes around straightening people's picture frames.:-)

Very nice shots. I've got to make my way out there and check it out. Thanks for the inspiration.

I like how you captured the vibe of Bodie. We have an old abandon town nearby called Forest, the dirt road is longer by 13 miles, but it isn't as rough. When the Clampers are there, restoring parts of town like the roofs, you can go in the buildings. There are some places where people just got up and left or never made it home. You can feel the desperation like DustieLT captured in Bodie! Nice job on smoke detector removal! I had to remember where it used to be!

Thank you so much for the nice comments. I am in the Sacramento area, but have not heard of Forest. Is it hard to get to? Is it open to the public, I am so excited!!! I really love the old ghost towns that have not been turned into tourist traps. It's almost funny, this is so exciting, my heart rate goes up! Please feel free to share any info or photos that you might have.
