Hi, I went to Bodie last weekend, spent most of my time shooting the past through the windows. I would really like some feedback on them before I get them printed.

Thanks for looking.

I think the pictures are great. It would be fun to get inside and feel the past. Thanks for posting something so cool!

2 4 and 5 are my favorites here. I know there was probably a screen or something in front of your lens in 4 but I think it added a bit of a "ghostly" effect to it. Nicely done.

Thank you, none of them are through a screen, I just put the lens right up against the glass. It is very old, and imperfect so it does funny things to the pictures. I love going there even though it is a bit rough.

Interesting place to shoot.... Most of the glass I saw was extremely dirty, so your shots came out quite well for what you had to shoot through. That last three miles of road cannot be described, only experienced.....;0)

I love them, but the one with the barrels has a smoke detector on the ceiling. I would clone that out. I bet they would be cool in b&w and/or HDR.

Hi DustieLT, I really liked your shots. Bodie is on my wish list of places to go, so thanks for taking me there. I had a similar experience shooting through windows at a couple of places here in Montana with mixed results. Keep them coming, I'd like to see more.

I like your shots they are a different prospective than most I have seen a lot of shots from the out side but not many of the inside of the buildings. Nice work and show more if you have time.

Thank you all so much for your supportive comments, they really matter. I was so busy working on the Bodie shots, I didn't eve notice the smoke detector, I have fixed both my copies. Good to fix before I print. Bodie is a bit of a challenge to get to, the last 3 miles is old, dry, dirt road. It gives a whole new meaning to "washboard" road! But, having been there maybe 4 times, it is so worth it if you enjoy shooting this kind of subject matter. During the summer, they have Photographers Day every 3rd Saturday. It costs more, but it's worth it, you get in from 7:30a till closing, some great light and no crowds that early. If you ever get a chance to go there, Go for it! It is truly an amazing place.
