Despite the criticism of the United States this cop is a trained professional in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Guess he's tired of his old one!
No danger of him blowing his brains out. He could never hit a target that small.

I'm just glad for his sake that it wasn't one of those evil "assault weapons". Everyone knows that they go off by themselves and start killing people.

A quick cure for hemorrhoids for sure :(

That idiot cop reminds me of a story my dad told me from WW2 in which a soldier was riding in the back of a 6x6 with his chin resting on the butt of his rifle with the muzzle end down...the truck hit a bump, the weapon discharged and tore the front of the soldier's face off...another fatality due to carelessness and mom got a black-bordered telegram.
If the Muzzle end was down, there is NO reason this should or could happen. Maybe a sore chin, or even a few stitches. But hardly a fatality.
Obviously not a shooter??
....and under some circumstances, ala Boston, this law officer can enter your home without a warrant, scream orders at you, search you and your family, detain you and arrest you if you ask why. Not a "black helicopter" guy but the suspension of basic protections bothered me.

Have you ever had a gun go off when the muzzle end was obstructed by being tightly against the ground? Especially a shotgun? With a much thinner walls of the barrel than a rifle?
It may be a good thing that he was not issued any ammo for the day. He just couldn't be that stupid.

No, I am not that stupid. However if I were, the side of the barrel would blow out from being obstructed. Same with a rifle.
