I've contributed significantly to King's personal fortune thru my 30+ years of buying his books. IMO "11/22/63" is the best single novel he's ever written. As a person who lived thru those times as a 14 yo it has even more meaning. Plus time travel is and always be a fascinating topic.

All time favorite has to be The Shawshank Redemption it was years before I found out Stephen King had written this.

Shawshank is an actual prison in Maine and I would say that Stephen being a native of the state would know about it.

I think that you have a great topic here as with the many different topics Stephen wrote and writes about. In my mind the #1 Book I can ever remember reading was the Stand and for the reason that what was portrayed in the book I really think is going to happen, Viral or Nukes man is ready to wipe each other out in the name of humanity. The man we all know as Stephen is reclusive unto himself and he has a wife that is a writer also they do support the State Of Maine Hockey team out of Orono Maine. I do not know him personally but have had a couple of chances to stop by his table and say hi though this was at least 20 years ago. If you are ever in the Bangor area and have to eat out there is a truck stop to the south side of Bangor called Dysarts and on occasion he and his wife stop in and eat this is where I have seen him on occasion. His wife is Tabitha an author in her own rite but I am not to sure what she writes about. One thing that I have talked about with several dozen others who are readers of the King series is that he seems to hit a slow spot in about every novel and all of a sudden he is back on a roll after many conversations we have come to a general consensus that in time of a low he has to pick up a Joint to get his storys rolling again. While we are talking about Stephen King as the King of Horror how about one more author Dean Kountz this would have to be the crowned prince he writes more to the point and I think that it could be more believable what he writes as to Stephens World of Fantasy. Stephen King....I read many of his books and it would be so hard to choose one above all. But if I had to, I'd go with 'The Stand'.

Now if you want to talk worse, it would be that time he tried to write fantasy......

I'm a big Stephen King fan also. Agree that "The Stand" might be his best.
