If Nikons are so good then why are there so many posts complaining about their problems???
I'm a Canon guy. I have an EOS 5D MK II and arefurbished EOS 7D and have no problems with either of them.
Great stats. You finally settled a question that's been around for a half-century. I wish I had seen this before I ended up with all these old Nikkor lenses. Maybe I should dump them before my Nikon breaks. Do you publish medical research findings, too?You could save the NIH billions.

Hmmm - a scientific sample of.....one. You have not been paying attention and heard all the wailing about the Canon Autofocus problems - or the mirror falling off. In the business the joke is that Canon is Japanese for, "ship now, fix later."
Both are excellent brands and both have had phenomenal cameras and both have had their share of issues. Neither would be as good as they are today had it not been for the competition with the other.
Right - I'm sure if he types in "canon problems" into his favorite search engine there's bound to be plenty of people griping about one thing or another.
That said, I don't think Nikon is doing itself any favors by basically ignoring what looks like actual QC problems with early D800 left focus and the D600 oil/dust problems on the sensor. Hopefully they have it sorted out, but it sure caused a lot of internet banter in the mean time. My guess is that's what the OP is referring to.
P.S. I'm a Nikon shooter in the digital age, but my loyalty does not go back as far as a lot of you. Started with Pentax and shot mostly Contax/Zeiss during the film years.
Both Canon and Nikon look like potatoes to me :) But I like potatoes!
Have had 5 different Nikon models, still have 4 and never a problem with any of them---knock on wood......

You believe that or are you being facetious?
I have Nikons and love them, however, I'd love to have a Cannon Mark III to play with and I started out with a Pentax that did a wonderful job. I have Panasonic and Sony point and shoots. I like them all!
not all cameras are made perfect. there is going to be cameras that don't have "perfect" parts in them and will breakdown. factory fault parts will get by and be put in that certain camera

They are both good cameras In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a bad camera these days.
Could it be that Nikon sells more cameras than Canon and the complaniers don't know how to use what they have yet?
I have Nikon & Canon at the university where I work.
I don't ever remember sending anything back to Nikon for repair.
I have a box dedicated to sending Canon for repair.
The difference is there are only two of us using the Nikons.
The Canon stuff (10 or 12 kits) is checked out by students.
You see, there is always another side to a story. Missing data, etc.
My experience with Canon repair service is great, btw.
