Hoodman loupe question? In the video he places the loupe on the lcd but does not attach it. Does it attach? If so, how?

Do any of you have suggestions for a "gadget", technique, or something to make it possible to view the LCD screen on my Canon 60D and Rebel cameras in bright light?
Check out Carryspeed.com. They have a new hood, from what I see, it is awesome. It's on my list.
Daft and FREE I save my cardboard roll when the loo roll has finished or my kitchen roll, it works and can be used until the next loo roll runs out or similar. Doesn't matter if it gets wet as you can carry several. I have found this to be useful when out in the sun or bright light, not perfect but give it a try or adapt something similar.
I use the Hoodman all the time with my Canon 6D and it works very well. The only problem I encounter is having my camera, my sunglasses, and my hoodman all around my neck at the same time. :)
We use a slide viewer, called a Loupe, cut off front transparent plastic and there you are.Cost here in NZ 10.00.

I don't know about yours but mine has an LCD screen auto bright/dim feature that's on most of the time but it can be set to manual and choose the brightness you want - up to the point of radical and unrealistic. That doesn't show what's really going on in the camera like the viewfinder would but at least it allows composition through the bright light surrounding me. I used it a couple times but didn't like it so I always use the viewfinder now instead.

Tried quite a few things - hoodman type did nothing for me and weren't adaptable to a varity of cameras.
Tried fold out bits and pieces and didn't take to them either.
What I did find was a Clear Viewer (
www.clearviewer.com)
Tried one on my point and shoot and now wouldn't be without it. Contact Gary Robertson, tell him about the issues you have, and I bet he can probably come up with a solution, possibly make something just for you.
Certainly worth a try before you spend any dollars at all.

This thing appears to be the ticket to me also. I keep meaning to order mine.
I tried the shades. They don't work.
The Hoodman thing is no doubt a quality solution but kind or pricey.
I talked to the people at Crystal Viewer about their two versions. He said the $35 version would work fine on my Panasonic...just the edges would be dimmed a bit compared to their premium version. Later upgrade is easy too.
They seem like a great outfit to deal with.
BTW to make the designs with only LCD screens more annoying the great people at Panasonic put a polarizer on the LCD on my Z7. When I try to take portrait mode shots wearing my polarized sunglasses I get a completely black screen.

Does it get that sunny in Wigan ? I have a 5100 in Spain but use the viewfinder, if I use the screen I just tilt it out of the sun.
I use the hoodman loupe. I do tons of beach weddings and it works great. Tried the hand thing, did not work on the beach! Also, if you get into videos, you can use it with that also with different attachments.
