Do any of you have suggestions for a "gadget", technique, or something to make it possible to view the LCD screen on my Canon 60D and Rebel cameras in bright light?

Sorry I don`t know, but Blackberry phones and Kindles seem to have found out how. :-)
I always use the viewfinder if outside here.

Yes, why dont they implement the blackberry and kindle technology on the camera screens?

In ordered a screen hood of sorts to try that. Look for "LCD screen viewfinder" from Cowboy Studio, the cheapest i found. It also magnifies the image so you can better manually focus

Thank you. I checked out the Hoodman website and watched the video and also found the product on Amazon. Do you use one of these, MT Shooter? Anyone that can give me a review? Don't want to spend $99 for something that sits in my gear box.

Works great with my Nikons.
A bit disappointing at first with the LCD's that have lower resolution...you really see the details of the screen, but it's all about being able to see it at all. It works great. I use it a lot.

I usually just take a test shot, then run insude to view it, then back out for another test shot, etc., irritating isn't it? I'll put in another vote for the Hoodman, just haven't decided which one yet. :)

I had one like that at first.
Pretty good for movies, but I don't shoot them that often.
The panels are either out and you can't look through the viewfinder, or the thing is closed so you can 't see the LCD.
Too much hassle for me.

Okay, here's an enterprising young guy who built his own for a couple bucks.
