I would really like to see the proof of a $100,000 dog caretaker for the president. FYI he pays a food bill. the reason I ask this is that in NJ claims were made that Sen. Menendez saw prostitutes. Well to shorten the story the prostitutes were paid to say they saw the Senator. It was all fabricated. I therefore tend to want to know sources before I believe or repeat a story.

College presidents make more than he does and definitely corporate presidents. What do you think the POTUS should earn.

What should he earn? He should earn all the things he wants every other citizen to earn.....forced health care,no armed guards,no 100% income for life....and every thing he thinks is good for us should be applied to him.

The story about the dog caretaker is false. However, in 2008 the budget for maintaining the White House was around 1.5 billion. There is a lot of room in there to play around.

As someone else pointed out the cost of the personel to run the White House tours has already been alocated. Sequestration is a series of cuts of future spending increases. I see link between the tours and cutting of future increases.

Here is an article that is very interesting and eye opening

The President gets $450,000 in salary and another $50.000 for expenses. The President of Comcast would not even get out of bed for that kind of money. He spent more on his garage that Obamma makes in a year.

It's very interesting article and many thing are included in this budjet that that I didn't think about such as: VP residence,Camp David, restoring the White House etc. Imagine maintaining Versaille, or Buckingham Palace.

NEVER really understood why someone would spend
million and millions of dollars for a job that pays only
$50,000 a year. Right, donations given w/o any
kick back promises made. Ya but they all do it and
just who do you think are the ones who ends up
picking up the tab. How many CEO do you know
of that can get up in the morning and spend over
$400,000 in one minute and not worry about who's
going to have to pay for it or give an account as to
where it is going.May not sound right, but it still
doesn't make ant sense.

I really don't know any CEOs at the moment but it isn't as simple as it appears to be. If Obama spends money it has to be accounted for. The problem is that the government is very adept at "creative" accounting.

This has been going on since day one. George Washington was offered a small salary to lead the Revolutionary War by a nation already in debt. He told the new leaders that he would do it for free if they just paid his expenses. They agreed. George is now referred to as the "Father of the expense account". His salary would have been around $20,000 for the war while the expenses he submitted came to just over $100,000. The expense sheet included things like transporting barrels of wine to his wife’s estate. If you ever get to Valley Forge there are excerpts from his "expense" account on display.

For 237 years we the people have been unable to control what goes on in Washington D.C. so why should Obama be any different? Of course we have him saying he was going to be different but why should his statements change anything.

Two points further: Harry Reid is making his highest salary ever; $190,000 this year. He grew up in poverty and paid his own way through law school. He has been in congress for a third of his life and yet he is a millionaire several times over.

The Clintons were bankrupt when they left the White House. Former President Clinton is now listed as one of the 10 wealthiest presidents at over 80 million net worth.

How does this happen? I suspect these guys and dolls are too busy lining their own nests to worry about us.

Don't care what a CEO makes; has nothing to do with me.But $500,000 is about 10 times what I bring in,so I stand by my original statement.

How's my math?

How about the golf trip to Florida to take on Tiger or the 20 carloads of secret service he used for one half mile trip to dinner with the selected Republican senators the other night? Is anyone surprised at the lack of judgement demonstrated daily?

The illegal foreigner needs to keep his butt out of AF1.

We don't need Twenty-car convoys to go one-half block to have an expensive dinner for all the RINOS, either!

Instead of these politicians living like celebrities, how about they start running a constitutional government. Some think "work" is a dirty word, and they would rather live like Pharoahs.

If all our politicians had to live like us do you think we would be in the economic mess we are in? They give us health care that they don't have to live with, vote themselves pay increases (when was the last time you voted yourself a pay increase), make laws that they do not have to participate in and the list goes on. I wish the people could take back the country and oust these frauds.
