She'll do fine, the glass floor is magnificent. If you decide to drive up the road, make sure that you rent a 4X4 vehicle, as it is a little rough, muddy and dusty. I drove a convertible Mustang....go figure??
The Hoover Dam is not too far from there...fyi!

1. Sedona
2. Red Rock Crossing
3. Schnebly Hill
4. Sedona to Village of Oak Creek
5. Verde Valley School Road
6. Out of Africa
7. Bearizona at Williams
8. Wapatki (89A North)
9. Peaks Loop
10. Antelope Canyon

Forget the Skywalk because photo ops aren't great and you will spend over 1/2 of your day traveling in scenery that sucks.

My wife and I will be attending a wedding in Flagstaff in August and decided to make a week out of it. Our thought is to go a week earlier and spend a couple of days around the southern rim GC. Any suggestions on lodging and sites to see would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds like lots of fun. I live in Phoenix. I don't know what your travel plans might be or how long a trip you might want to take while here but if you have a day to spare I'd recommend this place, just a few miles south of Tucson - about 4-hours south of Flag. It's a national land mark. I shot this piece in just a couple of hours - well worth the visit if you can get there. Have fun in our state.

Thanks for the heads up. I kind of figure the road may be an issue and we already took measures. We have been to the Hoover a couple of years ago but wouldnt mind it again now that I have a camera. She has already made her mind up so I agree she'll be ok. Thanks for all the in put.

Go to this site and stay in the Park as the lines to get in will be very long in August

Nice show. But, you should have stayed around until sunset. Some of the best photos I got in 3 years in Arizona were taken from the parking lot in front of the mission at sunset. The mission turns pink!

Clearly your schedule will be compressed enough not to waste much time driving to other places. You have already been given good links for lodging places. If you want to visit other places near Flagstaff and Grand Canyon, Wupatki National Monument is interesting culturally and for a different type of photographic experience. These pueblo ruins constructed with red stone can be striking in harsh light. Not far is Sunset Crater National Monument for a different type of Arizona landscape. Unfortunately, I don't think visitors are allowed any longer to walk to the rim because of erosion problems. Have a great time!

West of Flagstaff is a town called Williams, they have a day package to the south rim. It is a train ride to the canyon and you get a couple of hours to tour and then ride the train back. It's a great trip for a quick visit, but the next time we will drive so we are not on a schedule. we really enjoyed the train ride and we did have enough time to see a lot of the soth rim, so I do reccomend it.

Thanks Norm for the train idea. I actually found the web site and tried to talk my wife into taking the train, staying the 3 days and riding it back to williams. We could utialize the bus tours to get around but she wants to bring the car in case we want to just freelance.

With the recent US budget cuts there may be some restrictions in the Park areas. So check with them ahead of time.

My wife and I took the train from Williams a few years ago and it was the most boring train ride we ever took. Nothing but sage brush and 30 mile an hour train ride. Rent a car and see more sites and sights. Sedona is absolutely a red rock wonder. Very beautiful country.

Thanks for the input. The train thing looks good but I wondered if it was.
