I was going to ask that... but I'm too lazy and I just wanna have fun with my camera....if I was a professional it'd be work and not fun...

My Sigma 8mm fisheye was certainly a comparative bargain!

was reading on line at popphoto.com about HAL the supercomputer in the movie 2001 a space Odyssey. scenes with Hal involved the astronauts talking to a wall mounted lens. turns out that the lens was a Nikon 8 mm fish eye. Extremely rare on ebay there is one going for around $48,000. Another useless trivia fact is if you take the name Hal and drop down one letter for each letter in the name you get IBM. Arthur C Clarke said it was a coincidence but really is something the mad genius Stanley Kubrick would do.
proves even insane computers prefer Nikon!

Or it proves you must be insane to own a Nikon!
No, it simply confirms the depth's the computer's psychosis. Canon glass would have cured HAL & he'd have changed his name to APPL......but then the movie would be over too soon.
The colour scheme of the IBM logo
is the same as the HAL logo.
Kinda lends weight to the
idea that the connection between
HAL and IBM is not accidental.
The design of the covers on this
golfball typewriter may remind you
of the Eames Chair. That's no
accident either. Charles Eames
had a hand in the design of them...
the covers of the typewriter.

it is amazing how well 2001 still stands up as a movie!
Incredible that it was actually a lens! I thought it was just a round piece of plastic for the film set!

You need to be careful, or the 2001 curse will befall IBM. All the products and companies shown in 2001 are no more. PanAm!

you took the words out of my mouth!
That curse befell IBM long ago when they refused to buy MSDOS off Bill Gates.
And that's not the only time the "Institute of Broken Marriages" AKA "I've Been Married" AKA International Brotherhood of Magicians" AKA "Intercourse Beats Mastur8ation"
shot themselves in the foot big time.
For example a very very high ranking IBM exec who will remain nameless to protect the guilty, based policy on his belief that
"There is a world market for 6 Personal Computers"

Why is it I will remember worthless drivel like this and forget to pull up my fly?

name Hal and drop down one letter
If you move up one letter you get GZK...that's really scary
