Hi
This link is the basics of iPhoto 11
http://www.apple.com/ilife/iphoto/what-is.html Do you want to resize the photo as in - it is in original format of 6x4 and you want 10x6 or do you want the subject bigger within the original frame ?
Thanks
I'd like to zoom in on the dog and leave the waves in the background. I'm able to zoom in iphoto to exactly the size and dimension I want but am unable to save it.
You can crop a photo to keep only the portion you like and remove the rest.
Important: Cropping a photo changes its appearance in the photo library and in every album, slideshow, and project (books, cards, and calendars). To edit a photo without changing it everywhere it appears, duplicate the photo and edit the duplicate.
To crop a photo:
Select the photo and click the Edit button.
If the Quick Fixes tab (at the top of the Edit pane) isnt selected, click it.
Click the Crop button.
Drag the selection window to enclose the area you want.
To crop to specific dimensions, select the Constrain checkbox, and then choose a size from the pop-up menu.
If you plan to use the photo in an iPhoto book, choose 4 x 3 (Book).
If you plan to use the photo as your desktop picture, choose Display to fit the photo to your computer screen.
To crop the photo to custom dimensions, choose Custom from the pop-up menu, and then type the dimensions.
To start over, click Reset.
Note: In the Constrain pop-up menu, the first two dimensions are in pixels; the rest are width-by-length ratios.
Do one of the following:
To save your changes, click Done.
To leave crop view without saving your changes, press Escape (Esc).
To cancel all changes made during this edit session (in any of the Edit panes), click Revert to Previous.
Note: If youve made only one edit, the button is labeled Revert to Original.
Thank you for the time spent with your instructions. I don't want to resize the photo though. I want to zoom in on the dog so that the dog is larger, and can't figure out if there's a way to do this. I can zoom in iphoto and it's exactly what I want. However, I can't save it. Is this possible?

should have exported the result in a JPG, not saving as XCF so that it is more universally viewable.
That's exactly what I want. Please tell me how you did this and how to save to a disc or thumb drive...thank you! thank you! :)
P.S. I can't download Gimp. Looks like it's only for PCs. How do I save?

If you are referring to this last photo, just download and save. It is a JPG.

Right-click and "Save Image"
Or Right-click, Copy and then open photo editor and do Edit/Paste
I did. Thank you so much. Do you know of any software that can do this for Mac?
