Love the composition of #1.

Thank you Linda. Often less is more, and here simple seems to work. While the sunrise was plum wonderful that morning. . .what I wanted was to capture the tree line from the mountain across the way.

Nice work love the sunrise picture.

Thank for looking, and your kind comment. Where I live, I often have an interesting sunrise in progress when I take my dog out early in the morning. I have learned to take a camera out with me as I let Hooch out in the morning. All too often, the right shot lasts only a minute or so, and seeing a stunning view, and going back in to grab a camera only results in the wonderful shot being gone when I go back out with camera in hand.

Lesson learned: Be ready, or be lost!

Amazing view and thank you for allowing us to enjoy that this morning. Are you in danger of fires set off by electrical storms?

And yes, during the dry summer and early fall months, we do have high risk for fire. I own two houses, one where my wife and I live, and one at about the same elevation about 3-4 miles to the south, high up on another ridge, where our son and his family live. Last year there was a large fire over at the other house. The fire came up one side of the ridge (taking out a couple of houses in its path), was lapping at the backside of the homes on the ridge (our's included). Everyone up on the ridge was pretty much trapped, fighting to keep the fire from the ridge top homes, with the fire planes were dumping on the people and the fire. The fire finally jumped the ridge about two doors up, and ran itself down the other side of the ridge, where it was met by bulldozers, fire crews, and more fire planes.

Was not fun, and certainly an experience not to be repeated!

scarey, but then there are "natural disasters" and weather issues where ever you live of the planet. Thank God you and yours were spared.

Beautiful pictures, you sure are lucky to live there.

I live at about the 4,000 foot level, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, on top of a nice ridge. Every morning, when I take my dog (Hooch) out early, I am often greeted with a spectacular sunrise, or interesting storm clouds, or sometimes just some fun fog that settled into my valley below.

Here are three recent examples of some of my morning views.

Comments are more than welcome.

Thank you for your comments. I am thinking that I would like to see how number two would look on canvas?

Thank you for looking and your kind comments.

I have been to Memphis and Nashville, plus my father's parents came to California early in the last century from Tenn. You have some wonderful country there in Tenn., which I have enjoyed during my travels.

Just this week I found my grandfather's second grade report card from his school in Bristol, Tenn. It was noted that he could do better and that he daydreamed during class. . .made me smile, as they said the same of me. Must be a family trait?

Thank you for looking, and for your kind comment. Lately it has been clear and cold; however, they say we shall get snow on Thursday. . .always bringing wonderful skies with such a storm.

Thank you Jim. While I was indeed happy with number 1, it did not make the gallery cut for me. I am going with a rather large gallery print of number 2, done both on Arches watercolor paper and done as a gallery wrap canvas as well.
